Polymer Physics

Postdoctoral Position Available at Northwestern University

Submitted by keten on

A postdoctoral associate position is available immediately at the Computational Nanodynamics Group at Northwestern University. This research project focuses broadly on the atomistic and meso-scale modeling of biomolecular materials and their interfaces with engineered polymers. Nanostructural predictions, self-assembly studies, and simulations of mechanofunctional behavior constitute the scope of the project.

Postdoc Position in Advanced Materials Lab, Northwestern University

Submitted by cbrinson on

A postdoctoral position is available immediately in Brinson’s Advanced Materials Lab involving collaborative work on finite element modeling of nanostructured polymer composites. The majority of the work will be split across two projects on the subject.  The first project involves 3D modeling of filled elastomers, with a focus on the viscoelastic properties. Non-linear viscoelastic modeling experience is a plus, but not required.

Need help: Relation between polymer end-to-end distance and mechanical properties

Submitted by Ashfaq Adnan on

Hi,

I found in polymer books and some literatures that mechanical properties of polymer improve with the increase of their radius of gyration or end-to-end distance for a fixed molecular weight. I, however, could not find any experimental evidence or any physical explanation.

It will be a great help to me if anyone refer me some literatures that explains the connection between these two parameters.

 Thanks,

Ashfaq Adnan
