Hello,

This is my first post in imechanica and i hope you can help me, im working in my finall project to obtain my MsC, im working in the simulation of crack growth in freeting fatigue, i found usefull the article post in imechanica by Eugenio Giner node/4338. Im having problems with the preprocessin files, Can you help me with some information about how to create the input files? (i have some basics using ABAQUS CAE, but i dont know how to create the input files like mOXY.prn, TopNox see article)

Linear Elastic material behaves as Neo-Hookean in ANSYS?

Submitted by Breslavsky on

I solve the static bending problem for thin plate under uniformly distributed load acting orthogonally to the plate. I

need the solution up to quite large values of deflection (100

thicknesses, which implies the strains about 100%), but I want to take

into account only geometric nonlinearity and not the material

nonlinearity. I use elements which support large strains (SHELL181,

SHELL281). The software is ANSYS Mechanical APDL 12 and 13. Also, I use "Large displacement static" option for

solution.

May somebody help me out sorting out a single value from four different values generated from field output to plot reaction graphs suiting bearing failure mode of bolted joints.

Should a continuum be an open subset?

I recent read the book of Prof. J. Tinsley Oden "A short course on nonlinear continuum mechanics"

http://users.ices.utexas.edu/~arbogast/cam397/oden0908.pdf

which declares that reference configuration is an open, bounded, connected subset of R3 with a smooth boundary (in Page 1).

It is strange to me beacause that means we cannot consider the boundary of the deformable bodies in its following discussion.

Hi Everyone,

We are testing an AISI 304 SS Pin under cyclic loading and the results show that the buckling pressure would increase after exposing the pin to the cyclic loading for a while. I was wondering if this could be a results of cyclic hardening and if anyone has a link to some useful information on this case.

 Thank you!

hi,

I am doing FSI analysis in Ansys. In that analysis I am using CFX and Transient Structural. In transient Stuructural,i need to apply a point load.so I created a hard point. But while doing meshing with Multizone meshing it shows the following error: "Error:Multizone found free block in swept body".So what can I do?Can anybody help me in this context?

Thank you

1st, 2nd & 3rd principal strain vs. minimum and maximum principal strains

Hi All,

Non-maths person here struggling with the relationship between 1st, 2nd and 3rd principal strains generated by FEA software and minimum and maximum prinicipal strains often cited in the literature.

As i understand it the 1st principal strain is the most positive strain, 2nd and then 3rd most positive strains. For instance:

Case 1-

1st principal strain = +1000

2nd principal strain = +100

3rd principal strain = +50

Case 2-

1st principal strain = +500

2nd principal strain = -50

Hello to all,

I m mahendra and i want few suggesions for my final year project Regarding Non-Linear buckling of composite Wind Turbine. I have done Linear Buckling and got a BLF=1.3 which is fine as per GL Guidlines. I m using Ansys12 Edu ver. and Shell 281 Element type with section properties. For load application i m using pilot node at 9 airfoils on the full blade.

Then i have applies Mx and My on that load application points.
