wind load on transmission towers

Submitted by hamawandy on

Dear All

I want to assign wind load on a 3D transmission tower USING abaqus, how can I assign the wind load on the transmission tower  ? should it be assigned as a bodyforce or joint load ? your comments are highly appreciable.

Thank you

Mode 1 contours

Submitted by Bharadwaj on

Could anyone tell me why in abaqus, while running a 3D
mode 1 fracture analysis,I am not getting the same type of contours on
either end of the thickness,i.e.i mean, front and back??While in front
side i am getting all the symmetric contour plots, including the red part
which shows the highest in the legend, while the back side is devoid of
it

Hi,

I'm new in this forum and happy to be with lot of great people in mechanics.

first, sorry for my bad english because i'm not a native speaker.

i have some questions about stress analysis in multilayer plates:

- i have a plate (30 cm * 30 cm) in a 4 points bending, can i model it like in cylindrical bending (i can have an analytical solution) with reissner mindlin model (or layer wise model) ?

Abaqus - uniformly meshing a sphere

Hi,

I have a small problem in generating a mesh for a sphere in abaqus.

I
am able to create a sphere using a 3D shell geometry, but I am unable
to uniformly mesh it. All I can see is an irregular mesh with
quadrilateral elements. I wanted to use hexahedral elements for the
sphere with uniform meshing and I tried using 'create bottom - up
mesh', but of no use.

Sorry guys, I know I've done it a long time ago. Can't figure it out now. Please help.

viscoelastic material characterization and modeling

Hi,

I used TA DMA tested the viscoelastic material properties (stress relaxation test). When I did Time-Temperature Superposion to create the mater curve, i found some of the shift-X values were negative (those points after Tg), which cannot be fit to WLF function. ANybody knows the reason behind this?  I excluded those point when fit the WLF coefficients, is this acceptable?

And I found the C1 and C2 of one material are negative, can i still use it at high temperature? thank you

Hi guys,

This is my first post in this forum; hope you can guide me through
two issues

My first question is all about geometry of blind bolt, especially
the sleeve; I already try two ways to simulate the sleeve

First I try to create upper cylinder and the lower part and
rotate the lower parts and merge them, but this create problems in meshing  and create gaps between the two parts as illustrated
in the following picture
