1)Is Hooke's Law applicable for all three states of matter(solids, liquids and gases)? And if hooke's law is applicable for all three states of matter , is there any change among the statements of hooke's law  for solid , liquid and gas?

2) Upto what exact point is hooke's law applicable? 1)Elastic limit ; 2)Proportional Limit .

Hello, How are you? i am Eng.
Rund Al-Masri a master student at Jordan University of Science and Technology ,
Thesis Title" Finite element analysis of thermoplastic railroad bridge at
Fort-Eustis".

I am modeling a thermoplastic railroad
bridge using Abaqus and i am having some problems:

1) How can i apply a movable load Cooper E 80?

Hi all,

Iam presently using Ansys Composite Prepost (ACP) for composite material modelling. I looked at some tutorials and understood the procedure, but when I applied it to simple case of simply supported rectangular plate with uniform load, the results donot match the theoritical textbook results. I tried it in ANSYS Mechanical APDL, the results were exactly same with  theoritical value. Iam unable to find the mistake. Is it possible to get the validation results for ACP similar to the validation results which are available for ANSYS APDL(provided by ANSYS ).

Can we perform fatigue life analysis using abaqus

Submitted by kazakaria on

I am a new user of Abaqus. I want to ask whether it's possible or not to perform fatigue life analysis directly using standard abaqus (without subroutine). If possible, then how to define their loadings. I hope that somebody can share their experiences here. Many thanks.

Hi friends!

I need to model a shell element which its task is just load
transferring. This shell shouldn’t take part I the analysis process, so it shouldn’t
has mass, stiffness and thickness, with this characteristics how can
I make this element with these properties?

Time-history analysis using substructures with ABAQUS

Hello,

I'm trying to use substructures to model a tall building under earthquake load. One floor is created with a substructure and the building is the pileup of a certain number of substructures. I would like to get the time history variation of fields outputs such as S and U. In my substructure definition, I have a frequency extraction step (to add generalized DOF) and a preloading step, I also ask for the damping matrix and the reduced matrix of the substructure, according to Abaqus documentation. I only get the output for the last increment, would you have any suggestion?

Transient Heat Conduction in Abaqus with moving heat source

I have a reinforced concrete structure and was wanting to run some transient heat conduction simulations on it using Abaqus. Ideally I would like to be able to specify a heat source of some magnitude and have that move around the structure over a given length of time in order to study how the structure heats up, deforms, and then cools back down.

I also need to know how to specify thermal conductivity in abaqus if I am using a tapered beam elemet with a generalized cross-section. Under the basic tab it only seems to allow me to specify the thermal expansion coefficient.
