Modelling time dependent concrete properties in ABAQUS

Submitted by daithirothaithi on

I am
carrying out a non-linear analysis of a concrete section subjected to construction
loading. I am looking to model the time-dependent effects of the material
properties as well as creep and shrinkage properties of concrete. In the ABAQUS
manual it states the General Static procedure
cannot be used to model time dependent effects. Naturally the Riks Method would be ideal to account of
the non-linear effects however it doesn’t allow for the use of multiple steps in
the analysis which is necessary to model the various stages of construction

Modelling CT Specimen in ANSYS and simulating in Zencrack

Submitted by Xambel on

Hello everyone,

I am currently working on a Dissertation for my Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering at Faculdade de Ciencias e Tecnologias (FCT), Portugal. I am doing a research on Compact Tension Specimen under mode I and III loading and I'm doing a 3d model in order to obtain finite element results in order to compare with the experimental ones. I first modelled the CTS in Solidworks and then imported it into ANSYS. The final objective is to run the model in Zencrack to get the values of the stress intensity factors for the loading modes I and III.

Abaqus CAE - Sudden Impulse

Submitted by Viriatus on

Hi Guys,

I'm having trouble in creating a sudden decelleration of a body using Abaqus. Similar to a shock but no actuall impact. I whant to measure the body response for stress and strain along time.

Does anyone have a good tutorial that I could use as a guide?

I would appreciate your reply.

Cheers

UMAT results are different with and without *orientation

Submitted by arnab.palit on

I have tried to validate my code by comparing the results with the in-built ABAQUS fung model results for uniaxial, biaxial and simple shear test on a single cube element. Uniaxial and biaxial both tests are correct and agreed excellently with ABAQUS predicted results. But the simple shear test results are not similar with the ABAQUS results. All the tests were performed with *orientation.

Observation for simple shear test results:

Hi,all

Recently,I met some problems about intendation simulation with Ansys. My simulation consider failure and large deflection. But the elements happen to distortion when the defelction became very large. So I have a confusion about how to handle the element distorted. Who have any idea about that?

My simulation is a quasi-static problem, How to use Ls-dyna to simulation this problem if the Ansys can't solve the element distortion efficient? Thanks a lot!

define fluid structure interaction between water and cylinder

Submitted by elyartab on

hi

i wanna define FSI between a steel cylinder structure which has a manhole and is not uniform, and water fluid domain.

previously i defined it by TIE interaction but now the cylinder has manhole and its changed

now i can use the TIE or what?

what will happen in manhole region during fluid structure interaction?

i appreciate your help

tnx

Abaqus User Subroutines

Submitted by rdgabbai on

Hello,

I have a user subroutine (UEL) written in Fortran that was running
correctly when I used Abaqus V6.5 (in XP) and Compaq Visual Fortran to
compile.  I was running as abq654 job=s00 user=abafer.for inter.

Now, I want to migrate to WIN7 and use Abaqus 6.12 with the same user
subroutine. I read the manual on 6.12 and the interface for user
subroutines has not changed. So no issue there. Indeed, when I run the
user subroutine as abq6121 job=s00 user=abafer.for inter, the program
runs successfully.
