Modeling a cardboard material model in Abaqus

Hello all,

For a project I want to model a cardboard package model. Basically I can even approximate a material responses, but I just want some material that can be used as packaging, such as cardboard. I am solving this problem in Abaqus. However I do not need to write a UMAT for that, any built in 'similar' model can work for me. Can you suggest some such materials in Abaqus?

Im try running the example of abaqus verification manual (4.1.21
umatmst.f) with the uniaxal tension with mises plasticity and the input
data ofhardening properties). i had successfuly running the example but
the problem is::

 (i) i had try to write the result of all the stress strain and plastic strain, thre shows the values.

Split Hopkinson Compression Test data analysis

I have performed some high strain rate split hopkinson
compression tests. The oscilloscope reads the incident and reflected
displacments (in input pressure bar) and transmitted displacment (in output
pressure bar) in volt. To convert displacement in volt (output voltage) to
mechanical strain (m/m), I have a difficalty. What is the relationship between
the output voltage (volt) (the reading from oscilloscope), excitation voltage (volt)
and strain gauge Gauge Factor (GF)?

Question on modeling geometry in ABAQUS CAE

Hello all,



I am modeling a composite cube block with spherical particle and spherical interphase around particle. I can simplify two spheres to two cubes. I am trying to model particle inclusion and interphase in a composite material. I am taking matrix as a cube and particle as a small cube at the center of matrix cube. Interphase layer will be another cube at the center of matrix cube but bit bigger than particle cube. Matrix, interphase, matrix all have different properties. But problem is I do not know how to model a cube inside a cube.

System error 3 when running a user subroutine in Abaqus

I am trying to run a UMAT in Abaqus but the program aborts with the following error message: 

 ***ERROR: System error 3  std_ElemWorkspaceManager::DeAllocate: An offset overwrite was detected for Workspace idEW_MaterialStiffness (ID = 13), offset = 16.

I have searched the yahoo Abaqus usergroup and the net and it seems like a couple of people had the same problem and posted online but there are no replies, solutions or comments.

I would highlhy appreciate any help on this.

i have some quarries about ansys software in the procedure of quenching process as i mentioned below,

          1)How to heat the metal whose initial temp is25 degree until it attains uniform temperature distribution

          2)after heating how to do quenching process

writing a do loop command in ansys static structural(workbench)

Hi every body,

I wonder if it is possible to write a *Do Loop in the static structural command snipper. I have to change a parameter in some substep of my solution, so I need *Do command. However, I am not sure if it is feasible to write a command in structural domain in order to change some parameters during solution.

I would be really appreciated if some one can help me with that.

running fortran code with microsoft visual studio

Hi all,

 Supposing I have installed visual studio 2008 and intel fortran 11, to do subroutines in abaqus, can i run fortran code in visual studio independently? I have a .f90 code and the output is a plot of data.

 2nd question, is it possible to do it in visual studio?

 If not, what should I do?

Hi,

Strong and weak forms are fundamental in theory of FEM. I read many books discussing governing equations and conservation of linear momentum in Cartesian coordinates. However have you seen anywhere a book or an article dealing with strong and weak forms in polar and spherical coordinates? If you have encountered such things, please share it.
