Hi,

I am reading papers on mathematical modeling of shape memory alloys.

I came across long- and short- range elastic interactions. What are these long- and short- range elastic interactions? and what are their significance?

Please share a good book to clarify these fundamentals.

Bending of Beam in ABAQUS

Hello Everyone,

I am stucked in a very simple problem in ABAQUS. I have been trying to solve bending of a 3D beam in ABAQUS. The beam have dimension of 100 X 1 X  1, with properties of steel. One end of the beam is encastre and at the other end I am aplying concentrated load of -50KN on each top corners of the beam. But the problem I am facing is, with decreasing the mesh size, the displacement is increasing drastically and the results are not converging towards the analytic solution. Can anybody please suggest me , at what point am I making mistake.

Plotting stress-strain graph from simulation

Hi everyone, I am studying an example in Abaqus example problems manual (version 6.10) called "uniaxial rachetting under tension and compression". In the example there is a graph plotting axial stress-strain relationship for experiment data and simulation data. By studying the inp file I knows that the writer has ask for some outputs like RF1, RF2, RF3, S, ALPHA, ALPHAN, LE and so on in certain node and element set. However, I still can't figure out how writer use the output data from simulation to plot the axial stress-strain graph.

Setting Simple Compression Test In VUMAT

Hi, i am trying to test a bulk metallc glass VUMAT with a simple compression test simulation. But since VUMAT is a Abaqus Explicit subroutine, that means I must set my compression simulation with setting of Abaqus Explicit right? So far I only have the experience in conducting compression test simualtion using ABAQUS Standard setting like static general step and surface-to-surface contact (standard). I don't know how to set up a simple compression test simulation with Abaqus Explicit settings, can anyone help me please?

I am new to ABAQUS. I am working on a research topic where I need to study the temperature increase arised due to strains applied to a body. From the user's manual I understood that I need to use "Sequentially Coupled Thermal-Stress Analysis" for my model.

Abaqus modelling of a finger (orphan mesh)

Hi all,

I am working  with an orphan mesh of a finger made up of:

1) elasitc epidermis layer

2) viscoelastic dermis layer

3) hyperelastic layer

4) bone

NLGEOM is turned on

Tie constraints re used between the layers and the bone

I wish to make this finger come into contact with a round object

however the job always fails as is does not converge.

Will anyone be able to advise on this matter?

 

how to get seepage quantity using ABAQUS

Hi, I am doing a simulation of a reservoir, and I want  to calculate the water quantity on a boundary. But I find that it seems ABAQUS cannot output the results directly. If I were wrong, then how to output the seepage quantity, or if ABAQUS cannot do this, how can I get the result?
