Reading input files in your C++ research code

Mechanics research codes are typically written by graduate students who aim to get their work done as quickly as possible. These codes are not meant to last beyond the publication of a few related papers. These files have the advantage that they can be read in quickly using an input file stream and the code for doing that can be written in minutes. 

How to find normals stresses in the global x y z direction in ABAQUS?

I am trying to find normal stresses (in the global x-y-z direction) of individual layups (plies) in ABAQUS. While post processing I only find S11 S22 S12. Do I always have to use a transformation matrix to find my Sxx Syy and Sxy? Is there a GUI/ Command way to extract the stresses in each ply in xyz directions?

We present a systematic approach to deal with the modelling and analysis of the cracked rotating shafts behaviour. We begin by revisiting

the problem of modelling the breathing mechanism of the crack. Here we consider an original approach based on the form we give to the energy of the system and then identify

Computational mechanics practitioners are not typically known for practising well-established software engineering techniques. That makes code developed by various research groups next to impossible to understand and modify.  I still see requests on iMechanica on how to implement Drucker-Prager models when every freshman student probably has their own implementation.  It is likely that the person who developed a particular code cannot themselves understand the code a few years after the relevant paper has been published.

Hi All,

I am trying to code the Drucker prager plasticity model for the 2D plane strain case using consistent tangent modulus. I am using C++, therefore I would appreciate if anyone could share relevant materials which I could use and preferrably for the 2D case so it is not unnecessarily complicated.
