Dear Colleagues,
We are organizing the 28th International Workshop on Computational Mechanics of Materials (IWCMM) in Glasgow, UK on 10-12 September 2018. This is an annual workshop which has been organized at different places and this year it was held in Leuven Belgium. IWCMM is aimed at creating an international forum for researchers and scientists in the field of Computational Mechanics of Materials. Eminent researchers are invited to the conference to present their research work on the topics of current interest.
The School of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering at the University of New South Wales (UNSW Sydney) seeks candidates for a full time, tenure track position in the area of Multiscale Computational Solid Mechanics at as level (Lecturer, Senior Lecturer, or Associate Professor) commensurate with academic qualifications and experience.
How to apply
Submit your application through www.jobs.unsw.edu.au
Job ID 60598
Applications are invited for a PhD position at Johns Hopkins University (beginning Fall 2018) on a collaborative project between the labs of Extreme Mechanics of Architected Materials (Prof. Stavros Gaitanaros) and Mechanochemistry And Functional Imaging Applications (Prof. Yun Chen) at Johns Hopkins University.
The project will focus on the combination of multi-scale modeling and experiments in order to examine the mechanical behavior of DNA origami nanostructures.
Dear Colleague,
The next Engineering Mechanics Institute Conference (EMI) will take place from May 29th to June 1st, 2018, at MIT.
As organizers of the Mini-Symposium MS20 “Nonlinear mechanics of highly deformable solids and structures”, it is our pleasure to invite you and your students to participate in our mini symposium.
The deadline for abstract submission is January 31st, 2018.

Requisition Title:Lead Metallurgical Modeling Scientist Job Number::170109VZ
Schedule:Full-time Primary Location:USA-GA-Kennesaw Organization:Global R&T |
We are looking for a postdoctoral fellow to work at the intersection of robotics and mechanics. The selected candidate will join the Structures-Computer Interaction Laboratory, a new group in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering of the University of California, Los Angeles. Visit our website: https://structures.computer. The research project aims to use collaborative robots to investigate the mechanics of structures (slender/flexible structures in particular). Our lab is equipped with a Sawyer collaborative robot from Rethink Robotics. We will explore how continuum mechanics simulations can be used to train robots to perform simple tasks, e.g. tying knots in ropes. Details of the project will be determined after consultation with the candidate.
A PhD position is open for Spring 2018 in Advanced Hierarchical Materials by Design Lab at Louisiana Tech University on multiscale modeling of metamaterials. The candidates must have earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering or related fields (applicants with a MSc will be given priority) and have a solid background in theoretical and computational mechanics. Having knowledge of continuum mechanics, finite element modeling, and a programming language is a plus.
