PhD positions at SUNY Binghamton

Submitted by Pu Zhang on

We have 1-2 PhD positions funded by NSF in 2022 Fall at SUNY Binghamton, New York.

The research will be on: (1) Multiphysics modeling & simulation for soft composites in flexible electronics, and/or (2) Design/fabrication of novel architected composites.  Students with a solid mechanics or relevant background are desired.  You will perform multiphysics finite element simulation (ABAQUS), nonlinear constitutive modeling, and soft composites fabrication/testing (CT imaging, etc.).

I have a few positions (funded by AFRL, ARO, etc) for MS or PhD (preferred) students at the University of Tennessee Space Institute (UTSI) and University of Tennessee Knoxville (UTK). The positions should start in January 2022 or at the latest Fall 2022. One of the positions requires US citizenship. The projects are in the following general areas:

Ratcheting assessment of Pressure vessel as per ASME design by analysis

Submitted by jsn1411 on

Hello from India.I am working for Industrial equipment manfacturer in Gujarat,in need for Ratcheting assessment of one equipment which is having operating as well as design temperature more than 500 C.We are having ANSYS software for Analysis.I have done previously elastic collapse for various equipment. But,this is something i have never seen in detail anytime.

It would be great if someone can guide and help me out through this challenging opportunity.

Time-independent harmonics dispersion relation for time-evolving nonlinear waves

Submitted by mihussein on

"We present a theory for the dispersion of generated harmonics in a traveling nonlinear wave. The harmonics dispersion relation (HDR), derived by the theory, provides direct and exact prediction of the collective harmonics spectrum in the frequency–wave number domain and does so without prior knowledge of the u = u(xt) solution. It is valid throughout the evolution of a distorting unbalanced wave or the steady-steady propagation of a balanced wave with waveform invariance.

Academic post in Experimental Mechanics at the University of Southampton
