Simulation of FRP in ANSYS

Submitted by omaromar on

I make a master research about concrete beam strengthened using FRP strips and u-wraps. i do the FEA for my test samples in ANSYS so,i hope if someone can tell me what the better element is for simulation of strips and which one for u-wraps. another question, is the local axes effective in ansys and how i can control it.

Many thanks

Finite element modelling fracture mechanics of polymer/clay nanocomposites

Submitted by CeciliaPisano on

I am Cecilia. In 2007 I graduated in mechanical engineering at the University of Cagliari (Sardinia, Italy).

During the degree courses I took several classes on structural mechanics, including, Mechanics of Composite Materials,

Fracture Mechanics, Finite Element Analysis (with Ansys and Abaqus).

Now I am a PHD student at the Univesity of Cagliari and this is the aim of my research:

Extract SFDR from VUINTER Subroutine in ABAQUS

Submitted by loizou2 on

Hi all!!

I am trying to use subroutine VUINTER in ABAQUS to extract the SFDR surface based interaction variable (Heat flux per unit area entering the surface due to frictional dissipation).

If i assume that the subroutine code I have written is correct, how can I request from the software to include SFDR in the field output variables? I am trying to add manually from the field output request dialog but i get a warning message that this is invalid.

Can someone help me please?

Thank you

Andreas

ABAQUS - Problem concerning "concrete damaged plasticity" model

Submitted by montero on

Hi all,

I'm trying to solve a frame structure in ABAQUS. I'm using 3D beam elements (B31) so that shear and bending stresses may appear. This is ok for an elastic analysis, but I also want to perform a failure analysis of this frame. Therefore, I'm trying to use the "concrete damaged plasticity" material in ABAQUS.  But I've read in the manual I can't use B31 elements with this material.

Does anyone know how to combine the "concrete damaged plasticity" material in a 3D beam analysis? Any other suggestions?
