coating modeling

Submitted by behzad15922 on

Dr.CW Wu

I am working on my M.s.a thesis about Numerical simulation of fatigue strenght of resistance spot welding joints of coated thin.At first I need to model a  steel palte with three different coating on it and apply a thermal analysis to achive to residual stress distribution.I couldent find any journal or paper in this field and dont know  from where i should exactly start my simulation in ANSYS.can you help me?

Thanks

Stress Distributions in Helical Compression Springs

Submitted by mcgrete on

Hello,

I have a multiple part question:

Backgroud to Q#1& Q#2  My interest is in the full stress distribution through the cross section of a helical coil compression spring, including the effects of curvature that are often cited by Wahl, but reported only for maximum stress at the surface.  The coil is simple - constant wire diameter, coil diameter, and pitch.  I have been unable to come across the solution for the full stress distribution (analytical), although there are endless references to Wahl's correction factor for the maximum stress.

Spring in Abaqus

Submitted by mahmood seraji on

Dear all

When i assign the springs between pair points in two
plate over each other, the spring definitely acts in one direction only
(perpendicular to the plates), but they must be assigned in such a way
that the springs work in three orthogonal directions. it is important to
mention that the two plate is fastened using screws, where the spring
has been used for screw.

how can i overcome this problem?

Best Regards

equivalent plastic strain works with mohr-coloumb plastity??

Submitted by Gamal on

can i use the equivalent plastic strain to evalute the state of the elements (yield or elastic) when the i use Mohr-Coloumb plasticity (Abaqus 6.6).

i am asking this question because i made a model to simulate  the uniaxial compression test using mohr-coloumb plasticity, but i find that the equivalent plastic strain remain constant at all elements, i am sure that the it should change from the edged of the sample to the core of the sample.
