With deep sorrow we write to convey the sad news that Hassan Aref has just passed away. According to an email from Ishwar Puri, Head of the Department of Engineering Science and Mechanics, of Virginia Tech, Professor Hassan Aref went on an extended weekend visit to his home in Illinois on Thursday night. He died there on Friday, sitting in his chair.
Hi,
I am familiar with abaqus python scripting to create odb files and to extract nodal data from an output database (odb) file in ABAQUS. I would like to know whether it is possible at all, to extract the boundary conditions from an odb file. I guess that the boundary conditions are not stored in an odb file. But I am not sure. Any help in this regard ??
I am pursuing my phD in one of the universities in india in fracture mechanics. I have completed all the formalities of my university before submitting the final thesis report like completing the course work examinations and comprehensive vivavoce. My work is related to accurate stress intensity factor determination at the crack tip through FEA approach for a mixed mode crack propagation.I have taken a new methodology suggested in one of the old journal papers in FEM and I have used the formulae mentioned in that paper to extract the SIF results.
Can some of you recommend a source to learn about Discontinuous Galerkin FEM?? I am specifically interested in its application in geomechanics but I need to learn the basics first!
I gave a seminar at Xian Jiaotong University on 27 October 2009. I recently found the video of the seminar online. The seminar was in Chinese, but the slides were in English.
If the subject interests you, the following papers will lead you to the literature.
Hi, everyone,
Does anyone have some experience on using UMAT to do dynamic analysis? Please give me some help on the problems i encountered.
HELLO, EVERYONE I AM A M.TECH STUDENT IN PANTNAGAR UNIVERSITY IN INDIA AND I AM DOING MY RESEARCH WORK ON CALCULATING FRACTURE PARAMETERS USING ANSYS, PROBLEM IS THAT I AM NOT ABLE TO MODEL A CRACK FOR 2-D ANALYSIS,PLEASE HELP ME WITH THAT,I AM USING ANSYS 13.0
Ph.D and postdoctoral associate positions are available at Rice University in the broad area of atomistic, molecular and multiscale modeling of cement-based materials. The projects include carrying out bottom-up atomistic and microtexture predictive simulations. Computational techniques will be integrated to approaches from statistical mechanics and physical chemistry to provide quantitative predictions of properties of cementitious materials across different time- and length-scales. The research will be carried out at Rice University’s Laboratory for Multiscale
Materials Modeling.
