What is the basic difference between Deformation theory and flow theory of plasticity ?

Submitted by Suman.Guha on

I am familiar with the flow theory version of the plasticity theory but still quite confused with the deformation theory version of the same.

When a material is modeled using a non-linear elastic model to predict its plastic behavior with no distinction between the elastic and the plastic strain, is it a deformation theory in that case?

Any elaboration in this regard would be really helpful.

Thanks in advance.

Calling VGETVRM

Submitted by sujan on

Hi!

Can please help me regarding usage of VGETVRM? I am trying to get material point data of EVF in an eulerian analysis using VUSDFLD but failed. Details is below:

parameter( nrData=6 )

character*3 cData(maxblk*nrData)

dimension rData(maxblk*nrData), jData(maxblk*nrData)

do k = 1, nblock

c jStatus = 1

call vgetvrm('EVF',rdata,jData,cData,jStatus)

EVF=rdata(1)

FIELD(k,1)=EVF

stateNew(k,1)=FIELD(k,1)

How to do a fatigue life prediction of a welded joint using ANSYS?

Submitted by khubaib1987 on

i got three questions here.

1) If im using ANSYS, how am i gonna do a fatigue life prediction of a welded joint? The speciment is butt joint. I need to know the procedure.

2) If im using ANSYS nCode DesignLife, how am i gonna obtain the SN curve if im using FE Model or Multi-column?

3) If Im using ANSYS nCode DesignLife, what should i pick for the geometry if im doing on CTOD method of a butt joint welded speciment?

Thanks for the help. :)

How to use cohesive zone modeling (CZM) approach in ANSYS?

Submitted by riyadmohammad on

Dear All,

Greetings to you. I am M. Faisal Riyad from Bangladesh. I am going to assist one of my professor in his research. The research will about crack propagation analysis. He asked me to learn about the cohesive zone modelling approach in ANSYS. I am searching for some good articles to learn from the beginning. I would be very grateful to you if anyone help me to find the articles or any other way to learn about cohesize zone approach in ANSYS.

Thanks,

Faisal
