2011:

Postdoc position in Computational Materials & Mechanics

Submitted by mohsenzaeem on

A postdoctoral research associate position is available immediately in the Computational Materials & Mechanics Laboratory at Missouri University of Science and Technology (Rolla), http://web.mst.edu/~aslezaeemm/

Candidates need to have a strong background in Molecular Dynamics (MD) or Phase Field Modeling (PFM).

Postdoctoral Fellow, Hopkins Extreme Materials Institute: Modeling the dynamic failure of geological materials

Submitted by ndaphalapurkar on

A new postdoctoral fellow position is available within the Hopkins Extreme Materials Institute (hemi.jhu.edu) at Johns Hopkins University.  The position is in the area of experiments and modeling of inelastic deformations in geological materials (including damage and micromechanics of fracture) under impact mechanical loading conditions.  The potential candidate will (a) assist in the development of theoretical and computational models for dynamic behavior and failure of geological materials, (b) closely interact with experts in x-ray phase contrast imaging to characterize microcr

Post-doctoral position on multi-scale simulation of fracture (quasi-continuum methods)

Submitted by Stephane Bordas on

Three post-doctoral positions are available at the University of Luxembourg with the ERC RealTCut project.
See http://www.legato-team.eu for details on the team and the attached PDF for the pre-requisites and possible research areas.

Postdoc position University of New Mexico

Submitted by deborah.sulsky on

The University of New Mexico, Department of Mathematics and Statistics is seeking candidates for a post-doctoral position to conduct research in the modeling of sea ice mechanics. A Ph.D. in applied mathematics or related field is required.  The applicant should also have a background in numerical simulation, including parallel computing, and background in mechanics.  Familiarity with the following areas is a plus:  sea ice properties, the material-point method, computational inelasticity, fracture mechanics.
