Post-Doctoral Researcher at KAUST

Submitted by malfano on

Within the framework of an international project, COHMAS LAboratory at KAUST is looking for highly motivated postdoctoral researcher. The aim is to work on a transversal research collaborative (CRG 2017) on adhesive bonding of carbon-fiber reinforced composite materials between KAUST and University of Calabria. The project deals with the development of new concepts for adhesive bonding of carbon fiber reinforced composite materials. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in manufacturing, mechanics and characterization of polymer composites or a closely related subject.

Submitted by jansen on

The Institute of Structural Analysis invites applications for a position as a Head of Research Unit (Experienced Researcher)  (ref. no. 90) for leading the research unit „Composites“ and to be appointed at the earliest possible date.

The department composites is performing research on development and validation of new computational methods for fibre reinforced materials and structures ranging from nano to macro scale (structural component). The research unit consists of 17 scientists.

Workshop "Novel Developments in Failure Analysis of Composite Materials and Structures" for PhD students

Submitted by jansen on

Dear Colleagues, In the context of the EU Marie Curie ITN Project FULLCOMP, a workshop "Novel Developments in Failure Analysis of Composite Materials and Structures" for PhD students and young researchers will take place on 30-31 July 2018 at the Leibniz Universität Hannover. This workshop presents recent developments in various aspects of failure analysis of composite structures, ranging from material modelling to structural modelling and from testing and identification aspects to numerical analysis.

PhD vacancy (4 years) on fatigue testing of composites with advanced instrumentation

Submitted by wvpaepeg on

Composites are used more and more as structural components in aerospace industry, automotive sector, wind energy applications,… As a consequence, the loads on those composite components are much higher than for secondary components, and can lead to fatigue damage in the composite part. Moreover, the fatigue behaviour of fibre-reinforced composites is much more complex than that of metals, because of the many different fibre/polymer combinations, the heterogeneous nature of the composite, the anisotropic behaviour of the composite and the multitude of damage mechanisms.
