Dear colleagues,
There is one postdoc opening in my research group. The research topic is on computational hydro-mechanics of porous media across temporal scales.
Candidates must have established records on constitutive modeling and publication record. Programming experience is required. Experience in contact mechanics, level set and/or meshless method is a plus but not required.
The starting date is flexible. More information can be found at
The Artificial Organs Laboratory at the Department of Surgery of the University of Maryland Baltimore seeks highly motivated individuals for two post-doctoral research associate positions in the following areas: blood compatibility and design/development of blood contacting medical devices.
A PhD position is open for summer or fall 2018 in Advanced Hierarchical Materials by Design Lab at Louisiana Tech University on multiscale modeling of hierarchical materials with an emphasis on printed materials. The candidates must have earned a B.Sc. (M.Sc. is preferred) degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related fields and have a solid background in theoretical and computational mechanics, specifically continuum mechanics and finite element modeling, and need to have the basic knowledge of writing computer code (preferably using C/C++).
The Confirm Centre for Smart Manufacturing is a new research centre based at the University of Limerick. The Centre brings together 42 industry partners and 16 international manufacturing centres of excellence to focus on the development of smart manufacturing for applications across Ireland’s leading industrial sectors.
Postdoc Position Available in the Franck Lab
Effective Sept 1, I am looking to fill 1-2 postdoc position in the general area of 3D cell mechanics.
Candidates should have a strong background in solid mechanics, preferably experimental, with an interest in learning innovative techniques in experimental mechanics including digital volume correlation, 3D Traction Force Microscopy, 3D confocal, multiphoton and Super resolution imaging.
There is an opportunity to invent interpenetrating lattice materials in order to design materials of any given stiffness, strength and toughness. Currently, lattice materials, such as the 2D honeycomb and the 3D octet truss, exist in a single material on a single length scale. The challenge is to fill the intervening gaps in the lattice with a second lattice in order to improve the macroscopic properties. The new lattices will be manufactured and tested by a collaborator within the group.
