PhD Studentships in Novel Modelling Methodologies for Hybrid and Titanium Alloys Systems Subjected to Impact Loading

Submitted by Gustavo Quino on

3.5-year D.Phil. studentship

Supervisor: Prof Nik Petrinic

We are seeking to recruit students for two doctoral projects arising as part of a long-term collaboration with Rolls-Royce. In particular, the projects will support future design of large gas turbine engines for civil aviation. The students will be members of the Impact Engineering Team, a large and vibrant team whose industrial sponsors are the largest global engineering organisations (see iel.eng.ox.ac.uk).

Postdoc in Mechanics of Woven and Fiber-based materials at the University of Pittsburgh

Submitted by iasigal on

Applications are invited for a postdoctoral position in an exciting project applying advanced fiber-based mechanics to understand the eye and prevent blindness. The successful applicant will join an interdisciplinary team of engineers, clinicians and basic scientists at the Laboratory of Ocular Biomechanics of the University of Pittsburgh.

Postdoctoral Position At Northwestern University

Submitted by keten on

A postdoctoral associate position is available immediately at the Computational Nanodynamics Laboratory at Northwestern University with Prof. Sinan Keten. This research project focuses broadly on the atomistic and multi-scale modeling of biomolecular materials such as nanocellulose and their interfaces with polymers. A Ph.D. in a related field is required for this position. Expertise in atomistic and molecular modeling techniques (molecular dynamics, density functional theory, coarse-grained molecular simulations) is required. Additionally, a strong background in soft matter research (polymer science, biophysics, or related areas) is highly desired. Interested candidates should send a CV, a summary of research interests, contact information of three references, and three most relevant publications as a single pdf file to s-keten [at] northwestern.edu. Evaluations will begin immediately, and the start date is flexible.
