Experimental Correlation of an n-Dimensional Load Transducer Augmented by Finite Element Analysis - 2012

Submitted by SIMULIA on

Presented in this paper is an alternative approach to load measurement which leverages the Finite Element Method in

conjunction with a physical sample to produce an n-Dimensional load transducer.

Fatigue Damage Analysis of an Elastomeric Tank Track Component - 2012

Submitted by SIMULIA on

This study presents the calculation identifies the location and number of duty cycle repeats associated with the first appearance of 1 mm cracks for the selected duty cycle, providing an example of how fatigue analysis may be applied to understand damage development in elastomeric components.

Using Isight Simulation Automation Tools to Reduce the Cycle Time for Ship Structural Analysis Processes - 2012

Submitted by SIMULIA on

This paper presents an overview of some of the ship structural analyses, the simulation automation Isight models created, and a

summary of the predicted man-hour reductions. It also discusses how Isight is predicted to enable meeting schedule demands.

Correlation of the Vibroacoustic Response of Structural Panels with Isight for Use in Statistical Energy Analysis -2012

Submitted by SIMULIA on

The details of this interface are shown and several correlation examples of varying complexity are provided. Using this improved process will speed up workflow and improve the accuracy of SEA simulations.

Accelerating the Development of Expandable Liner Hanger Systems using Abaqus - 2012

Submitted by SIMULIA on

This paper summarizes the use of Abaqus/Explicit for FEA of an expandable liner hanger system that comprises an adjustable swage to expand the hanger body, slip ring to hang, and a packer to

seal in a variable-diameter casing.

Static and dynamic simulations for automotive interiors components using ABAQUS - 2012

Submitted by SIMULIA on

In this paper, we will present two methodologies developed to improve the quality and efficiency of dashboards. Both the methodologies have been validated by means of a series of experimental tests and therefore it can be used during the design development process.

Numerical analyses of low velocity impacts on composite. Advanced modelling techniques - 2012

Submitted by SIMULIA on

In this paper the most advanced features currently available in FE analysis (Abaqus/Explicit) have been used to predict the behaviour of a composite structure under low velocity impact. A low velocity impact event on a flat composite plate has been evaluated. The plate has been modelled using solid elements for each composite layer and a user defined material model with a modified Puck failure criterion was implemented.

High-Performance Abaqus Simulations in Soil Mechanics Reloaded – Chances and Frontiers - 2012

Submitted by SIMULIA on

The paper mainly focuses on the chances and frontiers our research group encountered dealing with high preformance large deformations simulations in geomechanics under highly complex conditions.

Effects of Subscale Size and Shape on Global Energy Dissipation in a Multiscale Model - 2012

Submitted by SIMULIA on

This study presents a mesh objective crack band model is implemented in the generalized method of cells (GMC) micromechanics model to predict failure of a composite repeating unit cell (RUC). The micromechanics calculations are achieved using the MAC/GMC core engine within the ImMAC suite of micromechanics codes, developed at the NASA Glenn Research Center.

Hydrodynamic Pressure on Culvert Gates during an Earthquake - 2012

Submitted by SIMULIA on

These gates are designed to withstand the hydrostatic and

transient pressure loads. A phenomenon that is, however, usually overlooked in the design is the hydrodynamic pressure that is built up in the system during an earthquake.
