Applications are invited for a 2-year postdoc position in the area of crystal plasticity and finite element modeling of advanced materials. This position is a full-time position at the University of Western Ontario, Canada, and the selected applicant can start effective immediately.

The aim of the project is to understand the fracture of advanced materials under various thermomechanical loads and irradiation environments. The selected applicant will collaborate with other group members of Multiscale Deformation Lab.

Tissue Mechanics Group at the School of Engineering and Physical Sciences, Heriot-Watt University (Edinburgh, UK), has a postdoctoral research associate position available for 26 months (Grade 7, Salary: £34,308 - £39,745, plus standard academic package of remuneration). There are two openings for postdoctoral researchers in the research group of Prof. Tevis Jacobs in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Materials Science at the University of Pittsburgh. 

 

The purpose of the research effort is to understand the performance of advanced materials used in the semiconductor industry. The postdoc candidate should have a strong background in computational mechanics of granular materials (especially, in particle-level high-speed contact/impact of solids), numerical methods (such as DEM and FEM), and computational code development with C/C++, Fortran and/or Python.

The Shankar Research Group (www.shankarlab.pitt.edu) at the University of Pittsburgh anticipates an opening for a postdoctoral associate starting September 2022. The position’s primary area of research will focus on 3D printing with liquid crystal elastomers and cholesteric liquid crystal polymers. A background in synthesis of liquid crystalline polymers, photoalignment techniques and polymer characterization is required.
