Hello, I am trying to run a laminted composite plate in ansys. I have all the required mechanical properties and the know how to put some of the information. So far, the many trials I did i can't extract the failure criteria results. I want to know whether the plate fails in normal, shear or compression. I appreciate if someone can give me the map of how to get to that result and at what force. what are the step that i have to take in order to get there.

I want to model moving mass on a simply supported beam in ANSYS but I can not reach to analytical results, I tried defining CPs and some other methods. I want to find a linear solution and I prefer do not enter in Nonlinear analysis.

I need to do the modelling in a command file instead of through the ANSYS graphinc interface as I need to try out different configurations and automatically run it in ANSYS. My question is:
Say I create a rectangular geometry using the BLC4 command:
BLC4,-5,-15,80,100
I need to load the structure using the DL command? How do I know which side of the rectangel is assigned which line number? Can I control this? Is it consistent?

Hi everybody,
i?m simulating a manufacturing chain finite elements analysis. Every step of this chain have been developed by different software. I use ANSYS. Somoone know how to impose the initial strain and stress state deriving from previous simulations to my ansys model: I'm able to use INISTATE command but only stresses are imported, I loose initial strain info: are they important if my material is elasto plastic? how i can resolve the problem?

i am working on piezoelectric composite materails...
i will be greatful to you if anyone can suggest me how to model the piezoelectric materials in ANSYS.i am having some doubts in meshing and giving the voltage input to ANSYS.
if i directly glue actuator to the beam using volume glue then i am getting problem while meshing volume as "invalid topology for mapped brick mesh". how can i glue two volumes in ansys and avoid the problem in meshing???
