Lumped heat capacitance matrix and temperature oscillation.

Submitted by Hobeom Kim on

Hi,

When I was reading the Abaqus manual about transient analysis in thermal field, I found a sentence that says 'In transient analyses using first-order elements the heat capacity terms are lumped, which eliminates such oscillations....' (Transient analysis in Abaqus Analysis User's Guide 6.5.3).

I think that this 'oscillations' is related to not only explicit time integration, but also implicit time integration (such as Backward Euler method).

How to run abaqus through python

Submitted by vipinspillai on

Dear all,

I would like to write a function in python to calculate and change the loads and run the ABAQUS simulation.

I have seen that it is possible to run a python script from ABAQUS (for example: abaqus cae noGUI), but I would like to run ABAQUS from the python function.

would appreciate so much if someone knows if it is possible or gives me some information about that.

Thank a lots.

How to define Drucker-Prager model for soil in Abaqus

Submitted by dinhvanduc on

Hi everybody,

I am doing a pipe-soil interaction study using Drucker-Prager model in Abaqus software. The parameters related to soil properties are presented as below:

Soil Density: 1900 kg/m

Young's Modulus: 400E6 Pa

Poison's Ratio: 0.3

Drucker-Prager model:

  • Angle of Soil Friction: 45 deg
  • Flow Stress Ratio: 0.778
  • Dilation Angle: 30 deg

Drucker-Prager Hardening using hardening behavior type: Shear

Non-uniform pressure along a cylinder

Submitted by vipinspillai on

Hello everybody.

It is my fist time working with ABAQUS and I have a problem which I can not understand.

I have a non-uniform pressure (varies with z and theta axis) apply over a cylinder.

The problem is when I run the model, I obtain this error:"Too many attempts made for this increment ". I changed the increment size in the step module, and also I considered the non-lineary geometries, but  I obtain the same error.

Abaqus UEL subroutine

Submitted by m.r.bayat on

Hi,

I'm working on the article " A finite element implementation of a coupled diffusion-deformation theory for elastomeric gels". It is a very nice tutorial for implementing fluid diffusion and large deformations of elastomeric gels as a user-defined element (UEL) subroutine in the commercial finite element software package ABAQUS. The subroutine and input files of the solved examples in the paper are published online. The problem is, when I want to run the input files, I got the error "Analysis is being terminated from a user subroutine".

Plug-in GUI - RSG Dialog Builder

Submitted by CMiculas on

Dear Community,

I have created a simple Plug-in, the traditional plate with a hole, following the steps from this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DEXrC1HGoU4

Now, If I want to put this plug-in on more computers, do I have to recreate the GUI from the RSG Dialog Builder on every computer?

It is possible to do it once and after that to import/export it?

Thank you in advance!

cohesive zone element

Submitted by Surendran M on

Are there any papers/documents on one dimensional bar problem with a cohesive zone element formulation? It should be a zero length non-linear spring in this case right? I am more interested in setting up the problem from the virtual work principles rather than a discussion of the results.

Thanks

Hello Everyone,

Does any one have the source code of this book.

FINITE ELEMENTS IN PLASTICITY: Theory and Practice by D. R. J. OWEN & E. HINTON .

I need it to understand the plasticity implementation in FEA.

Please mail me at ravi.iitroorkee [at] gmail.com

Thanks
