Abaqus error: Modification of Odb file by Input file processor

Submitted by anindya bhaduri on

Hello,

I'm getting the following Abaqus error when I'm using a Python Script to run jobs in succession by changing few parameters of my model.
It's running fine for a few iterations but then it is showing the following error.

OdbError: The .lck file for the output database 'job_name.odb' indicates that the Analysis Input File Processor is currently modifying the database.  The database cannot be opened at this time. Analysis Input File Processor exited with an error.

Any help is appreciated.

Hyperelasticity

Submitted by Settler7 on

Hello all,

I would like to ask you your opinion on the following statement "At this time there is no method that can identify a unique set of hyperelasticity parameters for compression and simple shear deformation" [1].

I am particularly interested in this statement, as I am trying to model the behavior in compression and shear for rubber with steel laminates, and have hard time matching the experimental with FEM results.

Thank you in advance!

Hi everyone,

I am a master student working on my master thesis using ABAQUS. I am modeling an experiment, but the problem is that my results from ABAQUS do not agree with the experimental results. Can you help me to check if I have done any mistakes?

The model is a slender square concrete column 150x150mm and 1300mm long.
Longitudinal reinforcement:  550MPa, diamater 8mm
Lateral reinforcement: yield strength 630MPa, diamater 6.5mm, spacing 10.5mm
Mean compressive strength of concrete: 34.32 MPa

Selecting nodes and then elements attached to nodes using python

Submitted by rajan_prithivi on

Hi,

First,

Say i want to create a nodal set consisting of nodes 8000,8001and 8002 , How do we do that using python - can we use the node number as a pointer to select nodes ..

Second,

I wish to select all the elements attached to the nodes again using Python?

Thanks in Advance,

Prithivi

Hi everyone... I've been working on a research study of Steel moment resisting frames. It includes finite element analysis of the frame in ANSYS apdl software. However, I'm facing a problem with the application of loads. The basic loading history for a single specimen testing program in the multiple step test in which loading history consists of stepwise increasing deformation cycles as shown in the attached file. In the basic loading history, the cycles shall be symmetric in peak deformations.

I need to apply the aforesaid type of loading on a particular nodes.

Modal analysis of composite wind turbine rotor

Submitted by divya T on

I have built shell model of a wind turbine rotor in Abaqus CAE and i have run modal analysis. I see that the first natural frequency is around 1 Hz which is sensible but the displacements are very small 10^-12 which does not make much sense. Since, the displacements are so small, I cannot increase the scale factor (Exaggerate) for visualization to see where is the problem. There are many tied constraints in the model as adhesive is not modelled and tied contraints are used to glue two components. I think the tolerance used for the tied constraints has a role to play.

We are doing simulations of simple bilayer composites which undergo extensive buckling and post-buckling instabilities. The simulation is being done with ABAQUS explicit to capture the highly non-linear geometries. Everything works very well, however to compare with our analytical theory we need the Green strain at each element. ABAQUS for solid elements gives only the NE or LE which is projected onto the global coordinate system.
