Multi-processor mode of ABAQUS VIEWER

Submitted by dithoap on

Hi Everyone,

I am making an 3D RVE model for fiber reinforced composite. approximately there are 62500 elements in the model and there are 200 frames in the odb files (the odb size is around 3gb). When I try to open the file, it took me a very long time (approximately one hour) just to display the model in ABAQUS viewer, and when swithcing from one frame to the next frame, it took some time around 10 mins. And it is very not conveient at all. Currently I am using NVIDIA Quadro 5000 for my graphics card.

Use of Cohesive Surface Element for Edge Impact

Submitted by Ozzy on

Hi all

I am wondering if anyone is aware of recent experimental tests regarding "edge impact causing delamination" as result of post impact compressive applied loads?

And the secondary question is use of Cohesive surface for impact modelling. The specific quesiton I have is how to induce the initial damage ? if impact is not modelled how can the damage area be defined?

Hello.

I'm looking to create a simple ODB file using my model in session so that I can display an orientation tensor in a custom field.  I'm able to create an ODB for a 2d part (made of s4 elements), but my system crashes whenever I load the ODB for my 3d part (made of c3d8 elements).

Here is my script. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

from abaqusConstants import *

from odbAccess import *

from textRepr import *

odb = Odb(name='4',

ABAQUS MODELING

Submitted by PawanYadav on

I am modeling a 2D square plate with an oblique crack at its center at 45 degrees to x axis. This is simplest form and I have done it and obtained the result. Now with the same crack and plate I have to add inclusion of Al2O3 in the domain of the plate. Please help me to give the full procedure of inserting the inclusion in plate domain including oblique crack.

strain energy density fracture criterion

Submitted by april snow on

I'm doing my master degree on fracture mechanics
I want to simulate crack propagation direction on the basis of strain energy density fracture criterion (SED) under mixed loading
I'm using abaqus program but i dont know how to do this
so please if you can help me to know if the program can do this and how

How to plot deviatoric stress vs axial strain in abaqus

Submitted by digvijay_kumar_singh on

 I am modeling drained triaxial compression test. I modeled soil as cylindrical part in abaqus. Bottom part of cylinder is fixed and on top displacement is applied. I used Dynamic/explicit steps. After running model and getting .odb file, couldn't match stress strain diagram from experimental results. I don't know whether i am calculating stress in right way or not. Can anybody guide me in this regard? Advanced thanks for your reply.

[Help]: Element length increase in bending process without strain increase

Submitted by tuanpham on

hello everybody,

I am a feshmen in ABAQUS simulation. I want to simulate a basic problem: sheet metal bending process where the die is fixed, the punch move up and bend the sheet with the die shape. Please finding in Fig 1 for more detailed information.

My problem is the elements, which are lying after bending area,  have been increased it's length. However, the stress and strain of this elements are almost equal to zero.

How to make 3 parallel beam elements to work together in abaqus?

Submitted by CMiculas on

Hello,

I want to model an I-section beam profile, composed of 3 beam elements.

Because the material of the the web is different from the flanges, I choosed to create 3 beam elements (B33) for each part (attached you can find a rendered picture).

What do you think about this solution?

How can I connect the 3 elements to work togheter?

Thank you!

Best regards,

Cristian
