Dear  researchers,

I'm working with line cohesive interface element. It is been implemented  in Fortran Code. I have some doubts about it.

The first one is: this element will be coupled with shell element, but as the line interface element doesn't have degrees of freedom of rotation this could cause some problems. Someone knows a formulation to line interface element that incorporate rotation in formulation?

Looking for a copy of Bridgeman's classical work, "Studies in Large Plastic Flow and Fracture"

Submitted by Zhigang Wei on

I found it's hard to get copies of some old but classic works. Those classic works usually represent the most important findings in corresponding fields. Though thousands of new articles are published every year with easy online access, more than 90% of them will not be touched by anybody after 10 years. It's a pitty to see, however, there's no easy access to most classic old works in almost every fields.

Damping matrix in FEM.....

Submitted by Nguyen Van Chau on

Dear All,

I have make a problem by using FEM to get stress and disp of 2D plate  under dynamic loading (Heaviside loading...). I have know the relation between damping and mass and stiffness such as

                                                    [C] = alpha [M] + beta [K]

I am looking for the right shape function of a cantilever beam, where  the free end  is simply supported by a spring with stiffness K varying between zero and infinity, thus when K= 0, the beam is assumed a cantilever, whereas when K= ∞, it assumed a propped cantilever beam. The mode shape needs to satisfy all the boundary conditions.

hi,
I am a Student of 2 year M. Tech. studying in S. V. National Institute of Technology, Surat. My name is Zoeb K Lakdawala. My topic for disseration is ''Implemenation of Fracture Mechanics on Pressure Vessels". In my disseration I want to develop a code on fracture mechanics and compare it with standard Packages like ANSYS & ABAQUS

However, going through the books I have found that in
1. Plane Strain Mode the thickness of the material is very high
