Dear All

I'm working on studing the use of metal foam in sandwich structre containing Al or steel plate to overcome an impact shells or plates at differnet impact velocity but the prblem that I face how to define the failure critrion of Meat foam except difine the crushable foam properties, and I've read a paper on using cohesive element but i don'nt know how to use it.

Hopefully some one can help me solving this prblem, by the way I'm using ABAQUS v6.6

Help Plz: Correlation length of a random process

Submitted by murthy on

Hi there

I am trying to estimate the correlation length from

experimental data. I am expecting to use exponential and

triangular correlation functions, can someone please advise

me on how to get the correlation lengths (or even a

recommended reference would help me a lot).

Thank you in advance

hi,

Consider a polymer for which the potential energy resulting from attractive forces between the chains decreases markedly as the chains are oriented. What can one say about the effect of these forces upon the equilibrium stress-strain curve for that polymer rubber? and how large will be the small-elongation tensile modulus?

thanks

ANSYS/LS-DYNA PRESSURE

Submitted by cinzia on

Hello all!!

I am an italian student at the University of Florence....I'm sorry but I don't speak English very well...sorry!

I have a big problem with ANSYS/LS DYNA...so I ask you for help...

I have to apply a pressure to a surface that seems a little ball (like airbag) in order to inflate it. I want swell it.... Someone can help me??

Thank you very much!

Bonded joints

I started to use ABAQUS some months ago. I'm trying to simulated a composite bonded joint, but I'm having some problems to use cohesive elements to get the correct stress between the adhesive and the adherents. Unfortunately, I don't have a tutorial about the cited subject. I'm using the ABAQUS version 6.7.

Please, anyone of you can help me? I really need to now how simulated correctly a bonded joint.

Boundary conditions given by functions

Submitted by mpatrici on

Hi,

I am using Abaqus/CAE to model the elastic behaviour of a plate. I would like to give/define a function to prescribe the displacement along one boundary, but Abaqus does not seem to accept this the way I'm doing it*. Can anyone help me out?

* on the Load module, I choose create boundary condition > displacement, then I select a boundary, select distribution user defined, and on u1 i type "x". I then get a message saying this is not accepted.

Viscoelastic Standard Linear Solid in ABAQUS

Submitted by natoli on

I'm trying to implement the standard linear solid (Maxwell form) in ABAQUS. I can't find anything on how the 3 constants of the SLS model get input into ABAQUS in terms of the g_i's, k_i's, and tau_i's ABAQUS uses. For example, in a relaxation test, the modulus is given by Y(t) = C_1 + C_2*exp(-C_2*t/C_3), where the C_i's are the constants. I don't know if the standard linear solid makes any assumptions about deviatoric vs dilatational behavior. Does anyone know how to do this? -Thanks, Roman
