Is it possible to decompose a 4th-order tensor Dijkl with minor symmetry (i.e., Dijkl=Djikl=Dijlk) into Dijkl=AijBkl? And does Dijkl have its polar decomposition form like a 2-order tensor ? Welcome to discuss this question.

The analytical solution for a stress field in an infinite plate with a circular inclusion due to an applied tensile stress

Submitted by Mike Tonks on

I need to know the analytical solution for the stress field in an isotropic infinite plate with a circular inclusion, assuming linear elasticity. The plate has an applied tensile stress.

The solution for a hole in an infinite plate is very common (http://en.wikiversity.org/wiki/Introduction_to_Elasticity/Plate_with_ho…). I need a similar solution in which the inclusion has some elasticity tensor C and the matrix some tensor C_0 with C=x*C_0, where x is a scalar.

Thanks!

Hi, I am using Abaqus.

Need to model simple beam-column connection (with beam elements). Connection should allow rotation but not translation. I am new to Abaqus so please help.

Tried connector section, defined it, but I dont know how to use/apply it.

I am creating a mesh for a composite material using Fortran by assigning two different material markers for the data. I am able to see the output in tecplot but i would like to set two different colors for the two materials such that i can see the same in tecplot. As of now, i can see just one color for the whole mesh and i cant differentiate where the second material is distributed. Please suggest on how i can see the tecplot with different colors for the two different materials i have used in my .dat file. I am new into using all this so i need the advise. please suggest.

cohesive elements in ABAQUS

Submitted by ehamed on

Hi,

I am a new user of ABAQUS and intend to model the cross-linking between collagen molecules through the use of cohesive elements. I read the ABAQUS guidelines but didn't get completely how to use such elements and what the needed parameters are. I appreciate greatly if you can introduce me some more detailed references on the subject.

Thanks,

Elham

How to perform post-buckling analysis using ABAQUS correctly?

Hi all,

How to perform post-buckling analysis using ABAQUS correctly?

I have obtained an eigenvalue from a linear analysis using BUCKLE command. The shape from mode 1 is good (tally with the physical experiment).

However, the result from the post-buckling analysis (using IMPERFECTION command and RIKS analysis) has not produced the buckling shape like the mode 1 from the linear analysis.

If you all have any suggestion, please share it with me. Greatly need it.

Thanks,
