ANSYS: How to apply acceleration in 1 point of a slab under ANSYS?

I want to apply acceleration to one point in the slab(a plate).

The slab are simply supported. how to apply it and is the large mass suitable?

Thanks a lot!

surface to sarface meshing in ABAQUS

Hi everybody,

I have designed a composite made up of woven fabrics in CATIA v5 and imported to the ABAQUS. While meshing the 8 parts, I saw that any of the two surfaces having interfaces with each other, have different elements and nodes while there should be the same elements and nodes (meshes) at their interfaces. What should I do in meshing module to solve this problem?

 Hi,

I am researching delaminated composite plates.

How can i model the delamination area in two plies, is abaqus a correct choice for modelling?

Delamination area is rectangular or circular.

 Regards.

why thermal stress is self equilibrating

Thermal stress does not develop when the free displacement is not constrained. How is this related to the term self equilibrating?

Say, I have a plate with the upper and lower surfaces at two different temperatures. The plate is not having any other constraint to prevent themal expansion. Why thermal stresses will not be generated in this case ( because of temperature gradient)?

ABAQUS Sequential Thermal Stress Problem

Submitted by ritwickshomen on

Hi all,

I am nwe to ABAQUS. I am trying to solve a thermal stress problem the final goal is to simulate the quenching process. Due to high temperatures in quenching process all the material properties are a function of temperature. How can i implement a variable heat transfer coefficient in ABAQUS i.e heat transfer coefficient which is temperature dependent.

Thank you

Hello everybody i m working on a project Fem erosion analysis of brittle ceramic material using Abaqus/Explicit . I know for brittle material especially Jhonson Holmquist model is best suited , but unfortunately its not available in abaqus . So finally i decided to go  with brittle cracking criteria . Can Anybody helpme to use this criteria of brittle cracking

I need parameter of this criteria like

1 .Brittle Cracking >> Type GFI>>1 . Failure Stress 2. Mode I fracture energy
