Hi

When I was going through few research articles related to earthquake analysis, they say: A compuetr code was developed where in which the eartquake input will be in either accelerogram or a displacement time history, digitized in in the appropriate format. What does it mean? Doest it mean that in studying simulation of seismic analysis  we need to load that code as input? How to get an idea about that codes? Where to get? How to use?

   Please help.........

Thanks in advance........

How to use ansys to model the tangential deformation of a rotating blade.

Submitted by julie liu on

Dear all,

I have one question here. A blade is mounting on a rigid disk's outer rim. The disk is rotating at a variable angular speed. The system is  used to model a turbine wheel with a blade mounted on it when the engine is ramping up or shuttng down.

The thing I want to calculate is the blade tip deformation in tangential direction during this engine ramp up -steady state -shut down process. Does anybody know how to use ANSYS to model it?

Publicly-available fatigue test data

Can anyone help point me to publicly-available fatigue or fracture test data? I am interested in obtaining a variety of data for statistical processing. It seems many authors have used the data collected by Virkler and Hillberry which seems to be widely used, but I have not found raw data for their tests so far; is this data available somewhere for me to use? Any help is very appreciated.

Help needed with interpretation of received P h curves during NANOINDENTATION

Submitted by Anna Dolgran on

Dear iMechanicas,

I just started doing nanoindentation tests on dry biological samples (wood) with a flat punch tip and I have problems analyzing the results! I would be happy if anybody could give me some suggestions.

While running a test I receive quiet good force-displacement curves (no adhesion, good surface find, no time-depend behavior) but the values for the recieved elastic modulus are not stable! The value scatters over the whole range of displacement.

Meshfree model of shear at two-layer material interface

Hello IMechanicans,

I am interested in modelling shear response to mechanical stress at the interface of a two layer matrial e.g. the skin of the human hand, where the superficial layer of tissue slides over the deeper layer, while retaining some sort of attachment to it.

Does anyone know of any research papers that have investrigated this topic? I would rather base my work on the advances made my others, instead of reinventing the wheel.

Thanks,

- Olumide

Hi, everyone:

I am trying to use CFD to simulate a lifted free jet with/without combustion to air atmosphere.I am using Fluent6.3 to find its velocity, pressure and temperature distribution in the air.

My settings of model are:

ALE (Arbitrary Lagrangian-Eulerian) mesh adaptivity in ABAQUS/Standard

Dears,

I'm doing some numerical analysis on penetration of infra-strucutres on soils (such as CPT tests) in ABAQUS/CAE .. what I'm recently challenging with is to overcome the element excessive distorsion due to large deformations... I have to apply contact constraints in my model...I would appreciate it if you share your expriences with me regarding the following tips:

1- Is it possible to use the ALE (Arbitrary Lagrangian-Eulerian) mesh adaptivity in ABAQUS/Standard? If yes, do you know of any accessible examples (.cae files) or references?
