Velocity of a moving heat source in ANSYS

Submitted by Wefefe on

Hello,

I am trying to model a moving heat source problem using ANSYS. The
problem I have is in determining the velocity of the heat source form
the given conditions. Let's say I have:

TIME,1

DELTIM,

1, 1, 1,ON

what will be the velocity? If I change Time,1 to
time 20, the rest being the sam, I get the following error
message:"present time 1 is less than or equal to the previous tine in a
transient analysis".

Can anyone help with this, pls?

Thanks.

How to calculate the Plastic power of one element?

hello,all

How to calculate the plastic power (that is the power expended per unit volume in plastic distortion of an element of the body) of one element . I already have the stress and strain rate of the gauss points in the element.

   thanks in advance!

hallo all

i am new to abaqus and i have a problem

i am designing a pool with water in it.

and i dont know how to define the water as a material in abaqus

so that they will act like water on a dynamic analysys that i plan to do in the future

please help

i spent a days triyng to model the water

welding simulation in ansys

Submitted by bhargav lingamaneni on

Hi everyone!

I've been trying ansys for a few weeks but in vain. I'm trying to
inject a heat source(laser) on a 2D rect plate. I'm not sure on the
corrct way to add the boundary conditions. This is what I do:

1. assuming room temp so i added 298K to the bottom, left and
right using define loads >add_temp>lines

2.next i inject a heat source say 1000K using define
loads>add_temp_on nodes to a few surface center nodes (meaning the
top surface still have undefine boundary conditions)

Hi all

I want to know about Geometric Stiffness Matrix. When we calculate the stiffness of a body when the body is deformed then the stiffness called geometric stiffness. I have refered few books but I could not get the satisfactory details. I want to find the geometric stiffness of a fluid. I dont have any idea about geometric stiffnes. Any reference for this? Any article which explains this?

strain components in plasticity analyses using abaqus

Submitted by P Hartley on

I have recently been obtaining strain components using abaqus when modelling metal plasticity problems (large deformation/strain, 3D model using C3D8R elements) and accepting the strain components as supplied in the output. A colleague has questioned the validity of such components (i.e. integrating strain rate to get strain) when the principal axes rotate, which is inevitable in the type of deformation I am modelling. I had assumed the co-rotational formulation in Abaqus would take care of this. Any comments would be welcome.
