how to simulate the creep response with ABAQUS

Submitted by kmarch on

I would like to ask you about how to simulate the creep model in abaqus program, now i have the data for strain vs time of material and i want to know about (Power Law Multiplier, Eq Stress Order, Time Order) and how to find this value from my data reccorded. please recomend me to (prechk [at] gmail.com (prechk[at]gmail[dot]com))

Woven composite 2x2 twill using XFEM

Hi everybody,

I am anurag working on damage mechanics of 2x2 twill woven composite, i will conduct the carbon/epoxy laminates under various regimes of service loas (quasi static  loading, low velocity impact, fatugue, post impact) and will also model crack propogation of the same using XFEM.I have studied FEM at graduate level.

Initially i will calculate mechanical properties of woven composite using unit cell method by applying homogenization process.

NLGEOM not converge (XFEM)

Submitted by Rachel Clinton on

Dear all, question again:

I'm using XFEM to model crack propagation. There is convergence problem when I turned on NLGEOM, it works well if turned off NLGEOM. Moreover, if I change input elastic-plastic properties to linearly elastic properties, it works well even when NLGEOM is turned on. Anybody has some idea of this? I tried stabilization function at *step but failed to resolve this problem. Attached is my .inp file.

THANKS for any help.

Hi
I am a PhD. Student at Aalborg University at Department for Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering in Denmark. In short my PhD project treats modeling delamination damage in laminated fibrous composite structures under quasi-static and cyclic loading. I am having a hard time finding good relevant PhD-courses so now I am turning to you to ask you if you can recommend any good courses falling under the following criteria:
  • Damage analysis of composite structures
  • Nonlinear FEM
  • Cohesive zone modeling

How to simulate compaction process of powder mettalurgy?

I am doing ph.d work related to powder mettalurgy

I want to simulate the compaction process ( in powder mettalurgy) by using ABAQUS.It is very essential to find a way to create a model which will behave as such as PM part.

After modeling it is next work to find the proper analysis method to do analysis by applying compressive load to study the deformation of the PM Part. In ABAQUS, Modified Drucker-Prager cap model is widely used for the compaction problems of different metals in many research papers.

I have 2 problems.

Voigt material

Submitted by qiangbo on

Hi,

I am trying to modeling the shear wave propagation in a Voigt
viscoelastic material. I am using Abaqus CAE 6.8.3. The shear wave speed as a
function of frequency is of my main interest.

The way I input the
viscoelatic parameters in CAE is Domain->Frequency, Frequency->Tabular,
Type=Iosotropic, preload=None. The "Omega g* real" and "Omega g* imag" entries
are calculated as below.

Since the complex shear modulus of a Voigt
material is G* = mu1 + i*omega*mu2, where mu1 and mu2 are the shear elasticity

XFEM crack propagation in ABAQUS

Submitted by Rachel Clinton on

Dear all, I'm using XFEM to model cracks propagation. Max principal stress crack initation criterion is being used. After the first crack initiation, however,  no more cracks can be initiated, although the max principal stress in other area is also able to reach the crack initiation stress. What's wrong with my model? Is this related to how I set the damage evolution? Appreciate any help.

ABAQUS crack propagation

Submitted by Rachel Clinton on

I'm trying to model in ABAQUS that crack density increases with an increasing strain. The single crack path could be either predefined or solution-dependent. It seems to me that seam crack is able to deal with predefined crack path, but could not deal with increasing crack number? XFEM is powerful and able to predict solution-dependent crack path, however, is it able to produce more and more cracks as the applied strain increases? Thanks for any help. Appreciate.

Need help for Abaqus/explicit dynamic model of Impact on composite

I have difficulties dealing with the impact of the composites coz I have never done any dynamic FEA before

I need tocapture the failure of the composite cone

the model is a composite laminated cone impact to a solid wall

What are the settings do I need?

Could anyone please give me detailed instruction? or example of files or links to tutorials.

I will be pleased to provided more info.

Thanks in advance.
