PhD Positions in Mechanical Engineering at NJIT for Fall 2020
There are PhD positions at RAD Lab in the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering at New
Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT). The focus of the research will be on creating novel computational
and theoretical models for the dynamics of complex fluids with particular emphasis on particle-laden multiphase flows and biological flows of active matter in the living systems.
Applicants are expected to have an earned B.S. or M.S. degree in mechanical engineering, biomedical
engineering, chemical engineering, or applied mathematics. The preferred qualifications include:
• Background in fluid mechanics, transport phenomena, and numerical algebra
• Experience in developing numerical models and computation algorithms (CFD or/and FEA/FEM)
• Hands-on experience with scientific programming in Fortran, C/C++, Matlab, Python, or
other object-oriented programming languages is a PLUS
• Strong interest and self-motivation to perform cutting-edge research in real-world engineering and to
publish scholarly papers
Interested applicants need to apply to the Department of Mechanical and Industrial
Engineering by December 15, 2019. Please send your detailed CV, transcripts, GRE and TOEFL/IELTS by
November 15, 2019, to Dr. Samaneh Farokhirad (samaneh.farokhirad@njit.edu). Please list at
