PhD position in multi-scale modelling of materials- Queen’s and Western University, Canada
A PhD position is available:
We are looking for a talented, self-motivated, and enthusiastic student with an MSc degree in mechanical or materials engineering. Students with a background in any of the following areas are recommended to apply:
- Solid mechanics and finite element modelling of materials
- Crystal plasticity modelling of polycrystals
- Materials characterization
The selected candidate will spend part of his/her research at the nuclear materials group, Queen’s University, and part of it at The University of Western Ontario.
Prospective candidates will be assessed based on how well they meet the following criteria:
- Excellent degree in their relevant discipline
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
The following skills are desirable:
- Ability to work with ABAQUS.
- Ability to program in any of the following languages: MATLAB, FORTRAN, or Python
- Experience in microscopy.
- Experience in materials modelling.

Dear Prof. Abdolvand,
I would like to do research under your supervision. In fact, I am very interested in doing research in multiscale modeling. Moreover, I have so outstanding experience in numerical methods such as Finite Element Method and Molecular Dynamics Simulations.
