I use contact element as MPC methods in ansys but I meet problem maybe because the target surface isn't shape-flat.
my project is modelling crack growth in weld fillet on tubular joint, I have plan to modelling brace and chord with shell element and for weld metal with solid element ...
this my listing model in ansys

Yes, I'm talking of non lienar only- I'm trying to use a contact element to account for friction effects between a damper and blade - I am to run a dynamic analysis.
In the software I use contact elements can be applied beyween two pairing nodes of surfaces in contact or between a node and the ground (indicating something which is not included in structural model).
How have you encountered in contact elements..Can you provide some insight/documents to give an undestanding?
Contact elements are
Contact elements are non-linear by definition. I do have some experience, what is your question?
