smoothing length in SPH
Hi there,
Is there any basis for chosing the h/deltaP (where h and deltaP are respectively the smoothing length and particle spacing ) ratio in SPH. Is it purely based on some numerical experiment?
Thanks,
Amit

HI ,
I am Ashutosh..
i m a student of Mtech in cad/m from MNNIT, ALLAHABAD, INDIA.
I am working on my thesis for mtech which is to model erosive wear of materials under particle impact.
pls i need help on it as how can i model and simulate in abaqus/explicit.
hoping a reply..
regards

I am lakshya, a Phd student in materials engineering dept at University of Alabama in Birmingham. I will be graduating this summer, 2008. I am looking for a good geometric illustration of the consistent tangent tensor (corresponding to a stress update procedure).
The theory is "clear" for me, but sometimes i am confused when i wanted to imagine the illustration of the difference between the consistent tangent and the continuum tangent tensors.
Could someone recommend me a textbook or paper that presents a good schematic illustration ?
Best Regards!
hi friends
i have problem in full transient analysis in ANSYS 11.0
kindly give me solution.
i have data .....
BEAM FOR IMPACT LOAD
lenth=144 inch
area=120 sq inch
moment of inrtia=1000 inch rest to four
depth=10 inch
elastic modulas=3605 kips per sq inch
density of material=8.6805E-5 kips per cubic inch
FOR SOLUTION..(force 23.8 kips is linearly decreases from time = 0 to 0.042 at centre of the beam)
at time = 0 sec , force = -23.8 kips
I want to model moving mass on a simply supported beam in ANSYS but I can not reach to analytical results, I tried defining CPs and some other methods. I want to find a linear solution and I prefer do not enter in Nonlinear analysis.
My research topic is too different from string theory!. but i think this not so old opinion of Proff. Lee Smolin about world research system weaknesses is very beneficial to read. and have convincing arguments in neccessity of changes in this system. Read this. it is not related to string theory,

I think when a reaction occurs in fluid state. the quantum effects may become important in its simulation. does any body know any thing about quantum effects in fluid mechanics? did any one a multiscale Simulation in this regard. my knowledge is very limited in this regard. please guide me!.
