New perspective on Couple Stress theory resolving the indeterminacy issue

Dear fellow Mechanicians,We have done this research on couple stress theory which we believe has resolved the problem of indeterminacy in the spherical part of the couple-stress tensor and the appearance of the body couple in the constitutive relation for the force-stress tensor  (Mindlin and Tiersten, 1962).I humbly request you to read the paper and give me your feedback. Mixture Material Model in DEFORM 3D

Hi all,

I would like to model the transformation of austenite to bainite and martensite in the simulation software DEFORM 3D.

I am not so much confident with the core metallurgical concepts. I would like to know, if some one has experience in creating a material  model using mixture method in DEFORM 3D.

Time Dependent Distributed (Consistent) Mass Mstrix Calculation in FEM

I am working on large deformation finite element analysis for my research work. To consider the self-weight I need to calculate the distributed (consistent) mass matrix. So my question that how calculate time (for static analysis time will be representing only load steps) dependent distributed mass matrix in new configurations.

Journal Club September 2010: Modeling the Mechanics of Cellular Membranes

Constitutive relations, 2-D vs. 3-D. The starting point for modeling cellular membranes is the constitutive relations in 2-D space. It is important to set up the corresponding equations directly in two dimensions rather than to consider them as an asymptotic limit of three-dimensional relationships, like it is done in the shell theory. The main reason for the direct 2-D relations is that 3-D continuum approaches are not applicable to membranes whose thickness in on the order of magnitude of the dimension of a single molecule.
