The Rodney Hill Prize In Solid Mechanics: call for nominations

Submitted by Dan Lovegrove on

Elsevier Limited has established a prize named The Rodney Hill Prize in Solid Mechanics. This prize, which consists of a plaque and a check for $25,000, is to be awarded in recognition of outstanding research in the field of solid mechanics. The prize is to be awarded every 4 years, to coincide with the quadrennial International Congress of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics (ICTAM). The first prize was awarded at ICTAM 2008 in Adelaide and the second will be awarded at the ICTAM 2012 in Beijing.

Postprocessing of user elements and user element output in abaqus 6.10

Hi

I have made a user element, UEL of a cohesive zone element. which is a 8 noded brick element with zero thickness. After solving models using this element I would like postprocess the model in abaqus CAE 6.10 in the way that I am able to:

Who can provide a failure model and constants for Aluminium 6061-T6?

Submitted by RunQiang Chi on

Hi.

I am working on the simulations of impact. I have only found a set of constants for AL 6061-T6's JC failure model in the literatures. (D1=-0.77; D2=1.45; D3=-0.47; D4=0; D5=1.6)

However, the simulation results using these constants were not good.

Who can do me a favour and kindly provide another  set of constants (D1~D5)? Or, may you recommend another failure model and constants for AL 6061-T6?

Thank you very much.

Camera For DIC(Digital Image Correlation)

Submitted by ali_mechanic_64 on

Hello everybody

I am trying to  prepare DIC setup for my project. I was wondering if anybody knows about  the minimum requirements for the camera in a static and also in a dynamic test(charectrictics such as resolution, shutter speed and anything else that might be important).I found a sony camera with 1 Mpixel resolution and 7.5 fps shutter speed (that is valued at 1000$) that somebody told me this is suitable for a static test.

thanks in advance

buckling of CFRP under combine axial compression and torsion loading.

Submitted by firozahmed49 on

hi,

I have to perform an non-linear buckling analysis over CFRP cylindrical shell in ansys. now i am little bit confuse how to perform this combined loading in ansys.in order to buckle some impurities (pertubation/imperfection ) must be included into the shell as this combine loading is purely in-plane loading case. this impurities i was including by performing a eigen value buckling during pure torsional loading and pure axial compression individually. but this is not much convinient during combine loading.

So my quries are
