Postdoc Position in in situ SEM mechanical testing at Johns Hopkins University

Submitted by Jaafar El-Awady on

I have an open postdoc position with focus on in situ SEM testing coupled with laser interferometry to characterize crack initiation in complex alloys. The applicant is expected to have strong background in mechanics of alloys and has expertise with in situ SEM testing. Strong hands-on experiences in budling/designing new experiments and/or experiences with lasers would be a strong plus.

Uncovering stress fields and defects distributions in graphene using deep neural networks

Submitted by Nuwan Dewapriya on

In our latest article, “Uncovering stress fields and defects distributions in graphene using deep neural networks”: https://doi.org/10.1007/s10704-023-00704-z , we showed that conditional generative adversarial networks (cGANs) could transform complex deformation fields into stress fields by eliminating the need to evaluate elasticity distributions and develop complex nonlinear constitutive relations.
