PhD studentship position on "modelling of surface defects transformation in hot rolling of steel"
a PhD student ship is available for UK/EU nationals (ONLY) to develop a Finite Element model of the rolling
operation to predict the behaviour of surface defects on the rolled
material during hot rolling of steels. The effects of geometrical parameters along with the material
properties and the rolling geometry, such as bite angle, on the behaviour of
the surface defects during rolling will be investigated. The
project is partially funded by Tata Steel Europe,

Basic papers and references in multiscale modeling and simulations
Dear all,
Can you please suggest me some basic papers and references in multiscale modeling and simulation of materials. I am quite naive in this field. I have some exposure to solid mechanics and finite element techniques. I understand that I need to study molecular dynamic simulations also, where again I need advice for basic references. I would be thankful for your help.
Thanks and regards,
Shekhar
PhD Position in Geometric Mechanics at Georgia Tech
I am looking for a new Ph.D. student to work on discretization of nonlinear elasticity using geometric and topological ideas. Requirements for this position are a strong background in solid mechanics and some background in differential geometry and analysis. If interested please email me your CV.
