Dear all,
Could anyone shed some light on constructing a 3D model in ABAQUS, which cannot be build by simple extrusion, revolution or sweep. I understand that I can build models in CAD and use it as an input for ABAQUS. The only other software I have is MATLAB. Any ideas on how I can build such models directly in ABAQUS/CAE ?

I'm currently working on on the tubular weld of joint modeling using ANSYS
Problems that I faced was how to combine elements of the shell (for chord and brace) with solid elements (for weld) so that stress transfer can occur between two elements
one technique that I know is using MPC
is there any among you who has a tutorial about it ..?

I'm new to Ansys.. I need to model a composite plate with a hole. It needs to have 5 laminated layers with different fiber orientations.
I've been through all similar queries here and have managed to understand how to model the layup (using the section -> shell method).
I have also modelled a sample plate with a hole.
I have also inputed the various material properties of each individual layer (through the Material Model editor).
BUT!! HOW DO I INTEGRATE THE LAYUP WITH THE SAMPLE PLATE ???.

I have just started my postgraduation in aerospace composites. I am new to FE of composites and required serious help in learning composite modelling. It will great if someone can help me in starting up. If you know any websites or books which have examples which I can go through to learn modelling of composites, please let me know.
