Context
As part of a collaborative project between different Belgian industrial partners and Universities related to the study of composite laminate under impacts, the main objective of the doctoral position will be to develop a multi-scale numerical framework to study failure of the synthesized materials.

Context
As part of a collaborative FET-Open H2020 project between different universities and a SME, there exist open PhD and Post-Doc positions is the context of
• Experimental characterisation of SLS printed structures;
• Models development of SLS process and constitutive behaviours;
• Developments of homogenisation methods and surrogate models (e.g. machine learning etc.)

A post doctoral position (funded by Boeing USA) will be available from September 2019 at the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur, India. The project involves Finite Element studies on the welding of thermoplastics. Candidates need to be have a background in non linear Solid Mechanics with experience of implementing user subroutines in ABAQUS. Familiarity with cohesive zone models will help. Initial appointment will be for a year.

Open PhD position at University Carlos III of Madrid (ERC Starting Grant)

Tittle: Multiple localization and fragmentation of thin-walled metallic tubes subjected to dynamic axial penetration

There is a PhD opening in the Mechanics of Soft Materials Lab (https://www.msm.seas.ucla.edu/) in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at the University of California, Los Angeles. The opening is to be filled in 2019 fall or 2020 winter quarter. The successful candidate is expected to work on modeling, simulations, and experiments of soft materials.

Applications are invited for a PhD scholarship at the University of Oviedo (Spain). The work will be conducted in close collaboration with Imperial College London. The PhD studentship is part of the MICROROCK project, which aims at developing a new generation of micromechanics-based models for predicting rock fracture.
