Material issue in ansys

Hello,

I'm trying to simulate and compare principal stresses in model of bolt and nut, for different material data. I would like to get the soft/hard stage comparison. The problem is that I just do not know how to define hard stage material, it is not in standard material library in ansys (workbench or classic).

If anyone could help me giving some examples of hard stage materials data I would be greatfull.

Inverse problem: Stress-strain curve from load-displacement curve of CT specimen

Submitted by Joe Kelleher on

I have a load-displacement curve for a compact tension specimen (side-notched small square plate), that has been plastically loaded in tension, to leave residual stress around the notch. I want to derive the stress-strain curve for the sample material from this load-displacement curve. Naturally the load-displacement curve is geometry dependent.

Modelling soil using Abaqus Mohr-Coulomb material

Submitted by rtan on

Hello all,

I'm a newbie in soil modelling; have modelled a 'tank' full of soil using C3D8I elements (hexahedral). A rigid pipe is located buried within the the center and imposed a translation. The model converges if I leave the material card alone and merely input the elastic properties. But once I input the *Mohr Coulomb model by inputting the friction angle and dilation, as well as the hardening card (cohesion 2.5kPa), the model refuses to converge. Basically using numbers provided so I'm unaware of how accurate they are.

thermal stress in ANSYS

Submitted by F. Mattedi on

Hallo,

I'm using ANSYS for study the internal stresses of a trilayer structure resulting after a cooling process. The middle layer (the solder) has temperature dependent material properties and the other two layers can be considered temperature indipendent mat. properties. If I use a static analysis the software uses the material properties reffered to final temperature.

For an linear elastic analysis is this a realistic procedure?

If the solder deforms plastically at high temperature and not at final temperature..how can I do?

Dear members,

I need some information about the implication or significance of J1 and J2 in granular materials not mathematical represantation which I have.Your feedback will be highly appreciated.Thanks in advance.

P = Mean stress or Hydrostatic stress = (σ11 + σ22+ σ33)/3

J1 = -3 * p
