Dear mechanicians,

I'am a phd researcher on the field of
computational mechanics. I want to solve a linear system of equations [A]
{x} = {b} with PCG method. With the help of a very illuminating
book "Iterative Methods for Sparse Linear Systems" by Yousef Saad, I manage to
write an algorithm in Fortran90 language. But i have one problem... I
store A matrix in symmetric skyline format (upper triangular). I

2D corotational beam + follower force

Submitted by fredo on

Hello,

I recently implemented a 2D corotational beam formulation described by Louie Yaw (node/4880) after Crisfield.

Now I need to use it with a follower force. Here an example of what I expect :

How could I approach this problem ? Should I modify the algorithm only (currently, Newton-Raphson + load increment) or the formulation ?

Thank you for helping me,

How to input displacement as a tabular function of frequency during harmonic analysis in Anys Workbench 12.0

I am currently involved in performing dynamic analysis of particular
assemblies and working in ansys workbench 12.0. Currently I am stuck with a
problem, while performing harmonic analysis I need to input displacement as a
tabular function of frequency but inspite of all my efforts could not find a
solution to this problem. Also the assembly is connected to the vibrating base
via mounting feets. Now in that case should the displacement field be applied
to the holes of the mounting feet or the entire base plate of the assembly that

Viscoelasticity in ANSYS

Submitted by shrimad on

Hi,

ANSYS offers two types of
large deformation viscoelasticity models - large deformation, small
strain (Visco-hypoelasticity) and large deformation, large strain.

I
am using plane182 element which supports viscoelasticity, large strain
and large deformation. When I use the 'nlgeom, on' flag in my analysis,
which of the above two viscoelasticity model is being used?

How do I specify to use Visco-hypoelasticity or large strain formulation
for my analysis?

Thanks,

Abaqus 6.9 - Material Subroutine - Damage modelling

Submitted by philippe rohart on

Good afternoon everybody.

As this is the first message i write on this forum, I will first start to introduce myself.

I am a French student, preparing a master's degree in mechanics. This current period is devoted to a 6 months internship, and a part of my work concerns the modelisation on Abaqus of damage in composite materials.

In order to define materials behaviour taking into account damage, I will have to write a material subroutine, but I unfortunately did not find any example on the Abaqus help.

Hi!

I have written the program in C++ which is based on one of BEM (Method
of fictitious loadings) . I know there are a lot of open libraries of
functions for programming for example openCV or OpenFEM. I could not
find Open Source library for BEM. Please if you know them, give links.

Thanks and Regards,

Hi.......

I wanted to know in which contexts we take bilinearform of a Matix. What is the application of the bilinear form associated with a stiffness matrix? I need a simple reference for this. Any explanation please .........

Thanks in advance.......

accuracy of higher frequencies in ansys

Submitted by Dhanashri Joglekar on

I have to find first 45 frequencies of a 3D beam numerically. I am using ansys right now. If I have to get these frequencies with pretty good accuracy, which method should I use? What are the things those need to be ensured? Can somebody help me in this context?

Thanks,

Dhanashri
