Finite Element Analysis of Head Impact in Contact Sports -2012

Submitted by SIMULIA on

This study is shown using data from these carefully constructed laboratory experiments, we can quantify impact location, magnitude, and linear and angular accelerations of the head. The resultant forces and accelerations are applied to a fully meshed head-form created from MRI data by Simpleware.

Damage Tolerance Analysis of Repaired Composite Structures: Engineering Approach and Computational Implementation - 2012

Submitted by SIMULIA on

This study is focused on analysis of post-repair behavior of composite structures. The objectives are to a) develop efficient computational approach for repaired areas, capturing processes of both damage initiation and growth; and b) demonstrate it in Abaqus on representative examples of composite repair designs.

A Numerical Study of Abrasive Wear in Tillage Tools due to Soil-Tool Interaction - 2012

Submitted by SIMULIA on

In this paper, preliminary results from a numerical study undertaken to study abrasive wear of tillage tools by soil particles are presented. The wear process is modeled as a single sand particle scratching at a prescribed speed on the surface of a tillage tool.

Simulating Underbelly Blast Events using Abaqus/Explicit - CEL - 2012

Submitted by SIMULIA on

The study presented that simulations agree favorably with the test results and produce higher fidelity solutions than traditional analytical or empirical blast models. The work is shown that Abaqus/Explicit can be used to accurately predict the response of a structure subjected to a near-field blast event with specific application to underbelly blast events on vehicles.

Multiscale Approach to Damage Analysis of Laminated Composite Structures - 2012

Submitted by SIMULIA on

The presented work depicts results of a two-scale approach to the problem of damage and failure prediction on laminated composite structures. This work shows results of the application of the most commonly used micromechanical failure criteria applied for unidirectional composites.

Optimization and Flowchart Control in the Industry Process using Abaqus, CATIA, Moldflow with Isight Integration -2012

Submitted by SIMULIA on

This study will be shown how to perform this integration with Isight as a manager of several different solvers and how all work together. The key aspect of the optimization process is the ability to integrate different analysis models such as: injection, structural, thermal, modal and etc.

Plugin for Tunneling and Geotechnical Analysis in Abaqus - 2012

Submitted by SIMULIA on

This study shows a plug-in for Abaqus/CAE that helps the user to define a tunneling, excavation and temporary structures, with support facility and other geotechnical analysis. The paper explores the steps to define a geotechnical analysis and Abaqus/CAE capabilities. It also includes two examples of the plugin usage: a tunnel and a retaining wall.

Computational Study of Cortical Bone Screw Pullout using the Extended Finite Element Method (XFEM) - 2012

Submitted by SIMULIA on

In this study, using a UDMGINI subroutine, stress components relative to a predefined osteon orientation were computed and an anisotropic damage criterion was used to determine damage initiation and to predict crack propagation.

Evaluate Medical Device Design Robustness by Combining Statistical and Probabilistic Tools with Finite Element Analysis - 2012

Submitted by SIMULIA on

In this study, FEA using Abaqus is combined with statistical and probabilistic analysis using Isight to demonstrate how these techniques work together to evaluate the robustness of medical device designs.

Thermal Expansion & Helical Buckling of Pipe-in-Pipe Flowline Systems -2012

Submitted by SIMULIA on

This paper presents helical buckling analyses are performed primarily to determine the critical effective axial load at which the inner pipe of a pipe-in-pipe (PiP) system snaps into a sinusoidal or helical buckling deformation mode.
