post buckling behaviour of cylindrical shell under axial compression in abaqus

Submitted by sragrawal on

I am doing postbuckling analysis of cylindrical shell in abaqus.I have to plot a graph of reaction force vs lateral deflection of shell. The deflection pattern shown by experimental result is different than pattern shown by abaqus result. The experimental pattern shows punching type of deflection while abaqus shows other type of deflection..

Please tell me what should i do to get the result.

Brittle cracking model on ABAQUS

Submitted by HussamNasreddin on

Hi all,

I have been using the brittle cracking model in ABAQUS on a cube loaded uniaxially in compression. I can't though get the effect of the brittle failure criterion in which elements can be removed.

Could anyone comment on how I can see how the elements are removed during the analysis?

Many thanks

inp and general contact

Submitted by ayran66 on

hi ladies and gentlemen.

i have 2 question about abaqus:

1-why som inp files that i import to abaqus are empty for example in one documetation example exist several inp files but som of this inp files are empty and sometimes som of them arnt complete for example dont have information specially  about interaction (general contact).what should i have done about this problem?

hi

i wana to investigate effect of crack in lamb wave propagation in composite plate in abaqus software. to this end, i have modeled a composite plate using 3Dshell defomable planar part. Also, i modeled crack using seam tool. i have problem in defining contact between two edges of crack to transmit wave through it. can anybody help me please?

Cyclic test data

1% to 0 % compression followed by

2 to 3% torsion followed

Jacobian matrix of Mooney-Rivlin model

Hi,

does anyone know where I can find the analytical expressions for the components

of the Jacobian matrix of the Mooney-Rivlin model.

I know the compact form of the matrix, with the tensor products, deviators etc,

but I'm looking for the explicit expressions of each component of the matrix.

many thanks!

In Abaqus UMAT, is DDSDDE the same with "effective deviatoric elasticity"?

Hi all,

In Abaqus Theory Manual 4.6.1, there is a concept called "effective deviatoric elasticity". I think that term is actually DDSDDE, i.e. the consistent linearized tangent moduli.

But why is it called "effective  DEVIATORIC elasticity"? It sounds like we missed the volumetric part (but only considering the isochoric part).

I would really appreciate it if someone could help me with this. Thanks!
