Hi everybody,



I'm going to do a degree dissertation on FSI using Abaqus CFD.

I'm now considering a simple case, a circular cylinder fully immersed in a fluid domain. In this simple case I consider the cylinder as rigid and fixed. I want to work out the forces on that cylinder. I know that this is possible using Abaqus CFD but I don't know how to do. Maybe it's a really trivial question but I don't know in a practical way how to do it. I have already performed the analysis but I don't know how to extract this result.

for understanding some cae tools for short fiber composites, i need to get started on

the eshelby inclusion problem. Reading the paper from 1957, it appears well written.

However without any background, it is difficult.

I wonder if there are any light explainations to the problem freely available on the

web. Or some free course work for this topic could be useful.

Hi everybody,

i want to create polar plots of the engineering constants E1,E2,... for a given ABD matrix of the laminate.

Without working on the ply angles (and therefore creating the ABD matrix again), can one rotate the ABD matrix directly

for example by a rotation matrix?

Can you recommend a book, which introduces complex numbers in the context of
structural dynamics? 

It seems that recasting differential equations with unknown acceleration,
velocity and displacement in the complex number format helps to arrive at the
solution. It seems indispensable when dealing with damping.

I am looking for a resource that formulates dynamic equations of motions
using complex numbers, with step-by-step explanations.

Your advice and thoughts will be appreciated.

Hi everyone,

I am trying to model a laser welding process in abaqus explicit. I need to create a volumetric heat source that is a function of position and time?

With abaqus implicit I could use the subroutines DFLUX or HETVAL but now I have changed to explicit and I don't know what method to use or if this is even possible.

Any help would be greatly appreciaited.

I want to model cylindrical shell that it's thickness varies from top to bottom with this function







 h=h0(1-ε cos(θ)) or each arbitrary function that is vary from top to bottom.How can I do this?
