how can the plastic strain be greater than unity?

Submitted by student on

Does anyone know how can the plastic strain be greater than unity? Such as in the benchmark manual 3.2.10 Indentation of a crushable foam plate:

what is section Poisson's ratio in beam section defining

Submitted by amin_kamali on

hi

i have a question about define section in abaques for beam element.  in creating section for beam elements,   ther is a blank in which section Poisson's ratio is asked. i want to know, what is it? and what is difference between section Poisson's ratio(in creating section menue) and Poisson's ratio (in creating material menue)?

thanks

How to solve problem with Huang plasticity subroutine and cohesive surface?

Submitted by armanamd on

Dear All,

I defined cohesive surface between grains boundary of my model which the Hunag plasticity subroutine is also used. I used stainless steel as material and the problem is that the traction-separation plot is not the one I expect due to CS properties and the maximum force that the diagram shows me is around 120e6 Mpa while I expect to see the value around just 120 Mpa.

tension and torsion in ABAQUS

Submitted by Leni k on

Hello!!

I am new in abaqus and I face a problem. I have a tube, which is stable on one side. On the other side, I apply tension in a first step and in a second step torsion. When I apply tension, I set 0 displacement on the other 2 directions, but in the second step there is displacement in all directions. Deactivating the first boundary condition in the second step, I saw that the results from tension are not satisfying. Do you know how can I solve this problem? Thank you!

Contact problem

Submitted by RajK on

Hi ,

I have a contact problem in abaqus. I am connecting two surface(one rigid one deformable) but i think the two suface are not in proper contact with each other due to which i am getting error like

1. There are 2 unconnected regions in the model.

2.Displacement increment for contact is too big

Can anyone help me with this
