modelling of cohesive zone in Ansys

Submitted by p_black on

Dear Friends,

I try to make simple model of crack propagation in Ansys but cannot get the clue what i dont include in programming file that I cannot see the propagation of crack, the cohesive layer doesnt break, simply stretching like rubber. Could somebody to give me advice on this topic?

thank you!

ABAQUS/CAE - How can I model a two-storey shear frame with rigid floors and LUMPED masses?

This would seem like a simple task. Anyhow, I am having some trouble.

Problem description: I want to model a two-storey shear frame with rigid floors and lumped masses? I.e., in all its simplicity, a two-DOF system ignoring the mass of the columns and lumping the mass at the two rigid floor beams. A typical example in all books on structural dynamics.

What yield criterion must I use?

Nowadays I am analyzing a study of a hip prosthesis including the bone. I am making the FEA/FEM analysis by Pro/Mechanica software. Metallics materials are titanium alloy (Ti-6Al-4V) and Chromium-cobalt-molybdenum alloy (CoCr29Mo). So they are ductile materials. I understand the main load is the flexural load on the hip.

Hi everyone. I'm new to this forum and quite new with FEA.

Currently i'm trying to find compressive strength or maximum failure stress on a modeled brick. Is't possible? What parameters or properties do i need in hand in order to proceed?

Producing Stress Analysis from Strain data

I am doing research on the stresses that are produced when a retainer (a thermoplastic sheet) is placed on the teeth. We've designed the project so that we take an initial scan of the sheet and a final "shifted" scan of the sheet. We'd like to compare, find the strain, and calculate the stress neccessary to produce this strain.

I was hoping to use FEA for this...is it possible? I have access to Abaqus and Ansys, and where can i find the commands that allow me to do this.

Viscoelastic cooling of glass

Hi ,

I am trying to model cooling of molten glass in ABAQUS. Does any one knows how to convert the viscosity data for ABAQUS?

I have viscosity curve against temperature for my glass. In ABAQUS, choosing time based Viscoelastic behaviour, Prony series coefficient needs to input for ABAQUS.

DOes any one knows how can i find theses coefficient from viscosity curves, or any other thing that can be helpfull.

Thanks

Soheil,

Abaqus/Explicit PlaneStress

I have alreday made a simple isotropic plasticity for 3D element and that worked well, but it is becoming compless for me to modify the subroutine to fit for PlaneStress, I made the following modification:#

CCCC   in the beginning,

 stressNew(i,3)=0

 stressNew(i,5)=0

 stressNew(i,6)=0

CCCC  at the end:

  StrainInc(i,3)= dEpsPla33+fac4*(StrainInc(i,1)+StrainInc(i,2)

        -dEpsPla11-dEpsPla22)

ABAQUS/CAE plots values with discontinuous edges/nodes

The plot is showing a value typically obtained at the integrations points (in this case a single integration point).

Normally you would make a plot like this by taking the mean value of the surrounding elements to each node, then making a interpolated plot like this. However, it is obvious this is not the case around the red node, as it has several different values in the same node.
