My name is Bash Phd  in colorado school of mines and I am newbie in soil modeling  and I just started my PhD study  months ago. I am experimentally and numerically studying the stress distribution undernath the padfoot roller at the first stage, I need to have a constitutive model for soil with both dilatancy and hardening behaviors.

Help with surface stress on microcantilever

Submitted by Lim Yang Choon on

Hi all,

I'm a PhD student with Electronics Engineering background. I'm doing a research in microcantilever based biosensors.

I'm having difficulties in understanding the adsorption-induced stress in microcantilever.

I would appreciate any advice or pointers on what materials that I can refer to. Besides that, what is the software that I can use to simulate this adsorption phenomenon?

Thanks in advance.

Cheers,

Yang

Hi,

does anyone know how to import fluid pressure distribution obtained from ANSYS CFX as a surface loading into ANSYS, or other FEM software?

I am currently doing a design work on a valve. I did my CFD analysis in CFX and I want to do a stress analysis based on the results from CFD analysis. I could export the pressure distribution as dat file from CFX but have trouble to find a way to import it into ANSYS.

Thank you for your help!

I am trying to perform postbuckling analysis of plates in ANSYS. But something confuses my mind. After linear buckling analysis I use scaled firtst buckling mode shape to generate initial imperfections. Then I initiate nonlinear geometric analysis by NLGEOM command. Collapse load or final converged iteration changes according to NSUBST option. I am trying to give higher Substep to obtain more sensitive and reliable results like 10000. But NSUBST with 100 sometimes reaches higher loads than using 10000. Which one is a correct approach?

Could anyone help me?

dynamic bending stress analysis in sandwich thin film structure

Hello,

Does anybody know if there exists an analytical solution for stress distribution in a sandwich like/ multilayered thin films subjected to cyclic bending? The sandwich has line-patterned metal of submicrons in thick and a few microns in width, which was coated/deposited by other material on top and bottom (surrounding as well) with different thickness up to 20 microns.

How to calculate deformation gradient for each increment in VUMAT?

Submitted by shiyao on

Dear all,

As you know, ABAQUS do give deformation gradient tensor and stretch tensor at each increment.

But the reference configuration for both tensor is the initial configuration (steptime=0, undeformed). Is this right?

So my question is how to calculate deformation gradient in each increment, the reference configuration is the configuration at the begining of this increment. I'm lost here. Really appreciate you guys can help me out.

 Best wishes,

shiyao

hi, i m studieng grp pipes as graduation project and need to modelling the pipe on ansys under inner pressure.

if somebody can help me i ll be very grateful.

the pipe wall contains of 32 layers from glassfiber and epoxy as acomposite material, the layers are [+55(16),-55(16)].

itried to do that using the element shell 91,but i failed.

my mail is yhkasem [at] yahoo.com (yhkasem[at]yahoo[dot]com).

thanks for any help.
