Hello,

 

I am working with a simulation of a thin component bonded to a thick
component in ABAQUS 6.7.  Here I utilize beam (B21) elements bonded to
plane strain elements (CPE4R) using a *TIE constraint, and another
simulation that uses plane stress elements (CPS4R) bonded to plane
strain elements (CPE4R) using a *TIE constraint.  In both cases the
plane strain elements represent the slave surface for the bonded
constraint.

Welding Simulation

Hi All,

I need help about welding simulation using Msc.Marc Mentat. I am new user and I have tried to solve the example of section 8.93 in Marc Volume_E. In my case the exit number is 3004 and the temparature distribution is almost 30 degree celcius which is so strange result.

Any idea please?

Hi all,

 i need help in doing simulation for a  water pipe  with an internal pressure is applied on it and there is a semieleptical crack in the wall of pipe.

how can i get the pressure which causes the failure of pipe?

how can i get th nominal stress in the pipe?

Specific concrete failure criteria for Abaqus

Hello all,

I am working on modelling a simple concrete structure(like cube or cylinder) in ABAQUS and I want to feed in my own failure criterion( say maximum shear or normal stress failure limit rather than the compressive strength). Thus, I was told that I need to write a Umat file for that. Could anybody elaborate on this and possibly contribute into how this could be done in ABAQUS?

Units conversion of energy release rate

Whant to double check one question: When i build fracture model in ANSYS/ABAQS, i used mm for dimensions, MPa for Young's modulus. Therefore, when i input critical energy release rate as the failure criterion, I need to change to Mpa.mm ? (the units from lierature usually is Pa.m OR J/m2)

therefore, i need to Mpa.mm=(10e-3) * Pa.m???

i want to simulate the displavement of walls  due to expansion of cylindrical tank in ABAQUS due to rise in temperature and hydrostatic pressure.

I am beginner of ABAQUS so anyone can send me the tutorials or give me ideas how to solve the problem
